While I think its a sham that a player of his caliber has to make the NCAA and his university millions while he has to wait 2 years before making millions of his own, he's not exactly playing a position with a short shelf-life.

It’s the only way the XFL can succeed since the NFL is essentially behind the other league.

Because any of these players would be millionaires without exploiting the NCAA’s television contracts, the training they receive or having ESPN, Fox, CBS or NBC hyping them up? Tell Richard Sherman athletes don’t exploit universities as well, the guy doesn’t get accepted and get a degree from Stanford if he wasn’t good at football.

The XFL can't succeed no matter what.

So, so, so stupid.... Putting teams in big cities with (aside from St. Louis) NFL teams, and other pro sports teams.

I wouldn't sit...but i think he should look into taking out an insurance policy on his arm based on future earnings.

I get the point they're trying to make but he'd lose his scholarship. He'd be better off taking a brand deal with someone and making money now, thus making him ineligible in the NCAA>

Agree. The XFL is never going to be anywhere close to as popular as the NFL. Their best hope for success is as a niche type sport. They should have put their teams in smaller cities that don't have NFL teams.

Heck, putting a team in a city like Oakland that is about to lose their NFL team would be a good move to maybe step into that void.

Yep. At least the other league realized that.

2 years of no game experience would hurt his development I would think.

WSJ is trying to be edgy because the numbers probably back them up in terms of him sitting as a financial move. But if Lawrence wants to be a great NFL QB he needs to play and continue to improve.

Are they under the impression that Trevor Lawrence isn't having the time of his life and getting all the penis he can handle?

Problem with smaller cities is that then it automatically is behind soccer. And they need bigger cities, for the facilities, fans that can support a minor league type franchise and most importantly a recruiting tool if the XFL is going to really try to allow players to play who aren’t yet eligible for the NFL or even having a practice squad debate playing there instead.
