Add another one to the list of things I've seen with my own eyes.

My buddy Ron called me at 7 this morning telling me that his Brother In Law, who had the tickets, had to back out of today's round at the Memorial. So He told Ron to find someone else to go. Lucky me.

So we watched a lot. We found a nice shady spot on 12 and watched for a few hours. Then when Tiger's group came by Ron said he wanted to follow them the rest of the way.

I said we should wait for the group after. The leaders. I reasoned that the crowd around Tiger is always unmanageable and Fowler was playing like shit (per the scoredboard at least).

He talked me into it.

We were just across the pond when Tiger lined up that rough shot on 16. It was coming right at us. Not since Cal Ripken blasted a walk-off against the Mariners at Camden Yards have I felt a crowd explode like that. The sound had feel. The energy was amazing. It was like it was slo-mo. It felt like the ball stopped for 20 minutes before dropping in.

God Damn that guy is good.

And, at least around here, he still appears to have quite the fanbase.

Couldn't give two shits less about golf, but that's pretty damn cool. I wouldn't miss an opportunity to see a guy like Tiger, crippled and mentally wrecked or not.

I don't think he lost the fans because of cheating on his wife, but because he was sucking. Love or hate the guy, there's no one who electrifies the sport like he does. I love Rory McIlroy, but he's not Tiger.

No really, it is. I think even with his past, shall we say, transgressions, golf fans still want to see Tiger make history by winning 19 majors. Snead's record of 82 wins will go down to tiger, I think that's pretty much a given, but the majors record isn't a definite now. Glad to see you had a great time, thanks for sharing. :high5:

That was an absolute sick moment. Before the shot Jim Nantz said "If he gets it within 6 feet it will be a marvelous shot." Jack Nicklaus called it the best shot he's ever seen at that tournament.

Tiger is a dickhead. That said, I love watching him play golf and there might be no single athlete in the last 50 years who has been more important to his sport than Tiger. If you play golf, you know how the courses have changed since Tiger came along. Tens of millions have started playing b/c of him.

Tiger said hockey wasn't a sport.

Let that sink in for a moment.

I didn't even realize until later tonight that he tied Jack for second on the all time tour wins list. Weird how no one in the gallery was talking about it.

I just read that Jack's last was the 86 Masters when he was 46 years old. Tiger is 36.

Yeah, he's not married to anyone in my family, so I don't really have to care about his life outside the sport. But I tell you, I've seen some of the greats play. And if THAT was busted, screwed up Tiger...

I am really sorry I did not see invincible Tiger. It's hard to put into words. The control, the presence he has out there. It's pretty amazing. The shot from the fairway on 18, he just walked up to it. Looked at it, looked at the green, looked up at the sky and then stood there and crossed his arms staring at the leaderboard. When the time came, he reached into his bag, grabbed a club and just wailed on it. TONS of people watching, about to win for the first time in EONs, and to tie the guy waiting to shake hands with you on the green and he just...

Nailed it. I'm not sure I could have even swung a club at all.
