A team must be at least 8-8 to qualify for the playoffs. This would include division champions.
2010 would have been this (with my guidelines)...
(1)NE (14-2)*
(2)PIT (12-4)*
(3)BAL (12-4)
(4)NYJ (11-5)
(5)IND (10-6)*
(6)KC (10-6)*

(1)ATL (13-3)*
(2)NO (11-5)
(3)CHI (11-5)*
(4)GB (10-6)
(5)PHI (10-6)*
(6)NYG (10-6)
*division champion
This would eliminate SEA (7-9), winner of the NFC West.

2014...
(1)NE (12-4)*
(2)DEN (12-4)*
(3)PIT (11-5)*
(4)IND (11-5)*
(5)CIN (10-5-1)
(6)BAL (10-6)

(1)SEA (12-4)*
(2)GB (12-4)*
(3)DAL (12-4)*
(4)ARZ (11-5)
(5)DET (11-5)
(6)PHI (10-6)
*division champion
This would eliminate CAR (7-8-1), winner of the NFC South.

With the NFC East this season looking rather.....dank, to put it nicely, the winner of that division would probably be golfing at season's end if this was implemented. If this was put in place I wouldn't be against it. I do not like seeing losing teams in the playoffs. I've said before that division winners deserve a playoff spot, however, if a division winner can't get to at least .500 I would not argue with a DNQ for the playoffs.

I agree completely. I might even go for a 9-7 record to qualify.

Chumps shouldn't be champs. At the same time, we deserve quality football in the playoffs, not just a bigger quantity of football.

How terrible is that not only will a losing a team win the East but will host a playoff game, like they earned it. Hosting a game, is the even worse part of it.

What’s gonna be even worse is when the Giants actually knock one of those winning teams out the first round

Being a giant fan who are in the hunt now for the nfc east I still agree with you. They may win the east but don’t deserve to be anywhere near the playoffs this year. I would hate to see them make the playoffs and then get embarrassed round one. I would rather see teams like that not make the playoffs to start off with there not playoff material

Could definitely happen. Seahawks D is awful enough for Jones to light it up and weird shit happens in shootouts.

Also a sign that there's too many divisions? I'm all for going back to 6. That would stagger them a bit, but I'd be okay with it.....4 divisions of 5 and 2 with 6. My Eastern division would be NE, NYJ, NYJ, PHI, WAS. Granted, currently none of those teams has a winning record, but the schedule would also be different and somebody may have a winning record at this point.

I'm stunned I haven't heard from the, "Then get ridda divisions if yer gunna do it like att." Perhaps they're sleeping.

Had to go no since the Hawks got in at 7-9. It would be kind of hypocritical of me to vote yes.

I like the 6 division idea, but

NFC East:
Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Football team, Bucs

NFC Central:
Lions, Vikings, Packers, Bears, Falcons, Panthers

NFC West:
Rams, 49ers, Seahawks, Cards, and Saints

AFC East:
Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Bills, Titans, and Jags

AFC Central:
Browns, Steelers, Bengals, Ravens, Colts

AFC West:
Raiders, Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Texans

Always been against the ideas of the division winner not being an automatic playoff spot and not getting an automatic playoff game.

It's good the way it is, don't need to be making major changes to the league every year.

No, it's not good. Nobody from the East deserves a playoff spot let alone a home playoff game

It has nothing to do with the NFC East. I've had the same opinion when this stupid idea comes up anytime a shitty division winner makes it into the playoffs.

The 8-8 or 7-9 thing is kinda splitting hairs to me. It's really hard to see the distinction at times. Hell, 9-7 aint no hell either. But I do understand the desire to change it given what we might see this season. It is such an anomoly in the NFCE this year. Potentially, a 6 win team could take the division. That is totally insane. I don't like the thought of a potential 11 win team having to go on the road to said 6 win team and I would probably like to see the thing tweeked to set the seeding based on record. Beyond that, if a 10 or 11 win team can't beat a 6 or 7 win team, then maybe they don't deserve it anyway.

If this were in effect the 7 playoff teams would be determined by now in the NFC.

(4)TB (10-5)
(5)LAR (9-6)
(6)CHI (8-7)

What gets me is the people who defend the home field advantage by saying "they should be rewarded for winning their division."

They are being rewarded for winning their division by being allowed to be in the playoffs to begin with, despite having a worse record than about five teams who are staying home.

the division Champs need to be in the playoffs, but I would be cool if they did the seeding by record only. 1st tie breaker being division champs.
So if a division champ & a wild card team both had a 11-5 record then it goes to the division champ. if a Wild card team was 11-5 & division Champ was 10-6. Then the wild card is seeded higher. To be honest never should have gone to 4 divisions. Then a sub 500 team making the playoffs would be even harder.
