I can't think of any team that can make one of the most lopsided trades in history to start an offseason and still end up screwing things up so bad that it does not matter.

They are paying an extra 5 million to make a significant downgrade at PG. I understand that Teague is a better scorer, but does it matter on this team? it is only useful from the 3 line, the area that the Wolves lack the most. And Teague is a career below average shooter from 3. Better then Rubio, but still not good.

They use the remainder of the cap space to overpay a declining PF, who also does not add any help to the biggest glaring need that the Wolves have. Gibson will be a help this year when they are not title contenders, and then take up 14 million for no value next year.

The use the Cap Room Exception on a player that is probably the most unplayable player in the playoffs. Every time Rivers put Crawford on the floor the Jazz would just attack him, run screens until they got a middling scorer and the get the guaranteed 2 points. He might add a little in the regular season, but he will be the biggest liability on any team in the playoffs. Crawford will continue to drain cap space next year as well.

Thanks to all of these wasted moves the wolves will have 120 million used space next year and that is if Wiggins contract does not exceed the 18 million cap hold.....it will be significantly me. 8 can be cleared by renouncing belly and cutting Aldridge, but that still does not get them below the line. They are now strapped and unable to improve for the foreseeable future and wasted the one year they have to add talent on ill fitting pieces, downgrades, and bad investments.

What a waste to a promising start. Thibs needs to get the Rivers treatment, even if it is too late now.

Rubio is a bust. He was expected to have superstar potential coming into the the league, but that simply never materialized beyond his passing and decent defense. They gave him 6 years to develop into something beyond below average as an all-around player, not to mention an extra 2 following them drafting him before he officially moved to the NBA.

So 8 years invested into a guy who is no better than average all-around at best. We can talk all day long about his subpar shooting potentially not being an issue with Butler, Towns and Wiggins being the primary scorers, but we've also been banking on that to an extent already with Towns/Wiggins and Kevin Love before them. The Rubio formula just isn't working. I liked him and think it was kind of a pointless move to drop him for that draft pick, but who knows, maybe they can use it as a trade piece or something? But the reality is that he was vastly overrated within Minnesota for several years, and he wasn't thought of that highly as a player outside of the state.
