Towns led team seems to be picking up steam.

They've also had an easy schedule during this stretch, only 2 road games and 4 teams they've played with an above .500 record(1-3 in those games). Not that they can't make the playoffs because there are only a few teams out West who I would say are "locks" to make it, but it's been 12 games. Maybe hold off on this until the all star break.

They have looked REALLY good the past couple of games.

Covington is an amazing player. People get so caught up in volume baskets that they often times don't realize great players at other aspects of the game. Covington is a flat out great basketball player.

Wiggins the past few games has shown glimpses. If they can just keep him with this same mindset moving forward, they'll be a playoff team this year and have a chance to be really, really good down the road.

...and how big of an ass must Jimmy Butler be? Completely different team mood withou him here.

Hold off on what? They were 4-9 and lost before the cancer left. A towns led team will be a legit playoff contender. Will they beat the top 3 in the west? Hell no, but it’s good to see growth.

Covington is a great player and his personality actually teaches others to use the things he does that benefit.

The one thing they need to do is bench Tyus. He essentially is playing 2 guard with Rose being the main point with the 2nd team. Gives Jones minutes to Okogie and develop the rookie who has looked really good at times too.

Jones being in there makes the other off guard have to cheat when rose drives. Dieng is the one who should never see an nba floor again.

10 of those were against teams currently above .500 and the last 5 of those were all on the road, that's a tough schedule. It's tbd if Towns can lead a team to being a legit playoff contender but he has gotten better post trade. Also there is a regular season thread where you could post stuff like this, if you weren't aware.

Towns has been playing extremely well vs. some very good centers in that matchup. Liking him more and more. Covington is just wow. I've been really surprised at his game. Went to their first game after the Butler trade and chatted with him a bit (he had the box next to ours before the trade was official with his agent) and really liked him. Saric seems like a plus bench player too.

I moved from Denver a few years ago and ended up here in Minnesota, and kinda feel like I'm seeing a similar team. Not the best in the West, but good and entertaining basketball.

Will be interesting to see if they can get in the playoffs. They're a good team IMO. Covington's among the top unsung players in the NBA right now IMO.

Sometimes its a case of addition by subtraction. Butler is a good player though; just not worth all the drama.
