Canucks are 8-1-1 in their last 10 on the road. That's pretty sweet.

I'd fucking kill for some consistency on the road right now. Now Helm is out tonight in Chicago and our bottom 2 lines are normally the ones to get anything going on the road.

Congrats Nucks fans, your team is scary good right now. I'd love to see a mix of the Red Wings/Blackhawks/Canucks in the WCF's (if the Sharks aren't in them). That would be some damn good/fun hockey to watch.

On the flipside, I love to see it, but WTF is wrong with the Ducks? I know they lack depth and Hiller isn't the same as he used to be, but still, they are just awful (unless they play the Sharks 3W and 0L this year)? Does Getz want out or something? He looks to be disinterested in most of the games I watch. It almost seems like there's a locker room issue.....

Getz had three different shifts that were longer than 2 minutes.
seriously... what kind of coach allows that?

He and Perry both averaged more than a minute per shift (1:15 / 1:09)
no wonder they are floating... they are gassed for the back half of each shift.
Sedins shifts averaged 37 seconds.

interesting that OV was similarly criticized (shifts too long / floating) in Washington under Boudreau.
not hard to find the find the common link.

That's an insane average shift time (at least by today's standards). I never studied the Capitals and I didn't see them play much except for their nationally televised games (or games against the Sharks), so I don't have any expert insight on the subject......but Boudreau never seemed like a great X's and O's coach. He seemed to be more of a players coach. For a team like the Ducks who lack the depth of the Capitals, they need structure right now more than anything (somebody like Hitchcock). Maybe it was a poor hire on the Ducks part.

EDIT: just saw your addition Puck. To be fair to Boudreau, Getz looked like he was floating long before the coaching change.

think you have to give bruce at least 30 games or more to show where he can take that team before it was a bad choice. it doesn't look good but that team looks deflated 100% especially getzlaf. I repeat I think he looked like he wanted to be traded with the way he played. he's way better than that.

Fair enough. Also, if Getz was playing the way he's capable of playing, then Boudreau's record would look better.....then again, Carlyle might still be behind the bench. I was just never overly impressed with the few games I watched (playoffs, nationally televised and versus the Sharks) with Boudreau.

what part of watching 24/7 last year makes anyone think Boudreau is a capable coach? I think he would have been a great coach in the 80's ... just throw the guys out there and let them go ... no strategy ... no strict system play ... he's old school and only an old school guy like Bob Murray would have hired him

whoooo! Haagen Daaz!

tangent time: Does Tortorella seem like a WAY better coach than Laviollette on this year's version?
he may be a spazz in press conferences at times, but he just seems much more composed, controlled and strategically focused that Laviolette's "give 100% every shift" monotone.

It was back on the ESPN Sharks board, but I really, really, really wanted Tortorella back when Grandpa Ron got the Ax. I think McLellan is a good guy and a decent coach, but he's not the right coach for this team. Jumbo Jo(k)e and Marleau need to have their asses chewed every once in awhile to play up to their potential. It seems like everybody in San Jose is scared to criticize Jumbo.....even dumbarse Roenick. He only criticizes Patty and then doesn't say ANYTHING about Jumbo at all after the Avalanche game on Versus when Milbury and Jones were ripping into the Sharks stars.
