No surprise, but there have been a few mutterings here and there that Wims could be on the bubble. I've felt all along that barring injury, he's a lock for the 6th spot.

Wims gaining early edge in WR battle

I like that the article lists all the receivers in camp who are on the roster bubble. I'm continuing with the opinion that Emmanuel Hall will be placed on the IL for the season. Then of course the final question will likely end up being whether the Bears break camp with 6 or 7 WRs.

It’ll be Robinson, Miller, Gabriel, Patterson, Ridley, and Wims. You can pretty much take that to the bank.

The only reason I highlighted Ridley is due to his current hammy injury, which could potentially be an issue. Now this might be nothing more than a slight & precautionary situation, but we all know how hamstring injuries can linger or return after a player has been cleared of it. However, assuming it really is no biggie, then yes, his making the roster will be a no brainer.

beardown's prediction of Wims becoming #1 is still alive and well! He's very excited to finally, maybe be right once. He may pop that cherry yet!

Wimms is a lock. He is a big body possession / red zone type WR that has a skill set different from our other WRs. Nagy likes having options. I think he can become a starter down the road.

Even if the damn thing is torn... we invested pretty big on him in the draft. He should be a lock.

No, I didn't mean we'd cut him. If he's hurt to the point where he won't be available for much of the preseason - and right now that's a speculative if - I'm thinking they'll just stash him on IL, at least until he's ready.

Second time you've used "IL" instead of "IR". Still in baseball mode, are we?

Just teasing... lol

And gotcha... I agree.

If Wims is starting it's because someone got hurt. So hopefully he never starts.

Not a couple years from now, it doesn't have to be. He did say "down the road".

Down the road Id assume we hope that Robinson and Miller are still 1 and 2 and starting and doing well. Considering they’re both so young.

Well, Robinson's contract is up following 2020 (option after 2019). If Wims has a good couple of seasons in a depth role, with some good spot starts in lieu of a few inevitable injuries. Given the cap decision we're going to be forced to make? Wims could absolutely wind-up a starter for us.

Chicago Bears: 3 position battles heating up in camp

"But, what has happened over the course of the first two weeks of camp is something we thought we’d have seen last year — Wims is looking good.

Real good.

“Trubisky to Wims is a thing,” many fans have been tweeting from camp over the last several days."

And if he were to...it would be a serious downgrade.

Bears fans always fall in love with these bottom of the depth chart receivers.

Wims is just a bigger version of Tanner Gentry. Or another Andy Fantuz.

Disagree Wims has got game. He will be a starter one day. IMO.
