i remember 3 walls on buildings where there were once 4. and they were functional buildings. like, a wall collapsed, and they still used it. mostly metal roofed structures and I-beams, but still.

it looked like the walking dead.

I was skiing at Whistler in 2014. There was still a question of whether Sochi in Russia would be ready for the Olympics. Whistler had been the site of the downhill skiing competition in 2010, and a lot of people thought that the fallback in case Sochi bailed at the last minute would be Vancouver again.

The Whistler facilities were in great shape and could have been used again. The Olympic Village and some accomodations became part of the ski area.

It can be fucked up, but it also can be done right.

Too risky at this point, the season is a month away and the virus running rampant. Best to be prudent. You have to consider all scenarios. Imagine if they kicked off the season, and then had to cancel it midway thru ... that would be worse, I think.
