With the KHL paying top dollar for top players and the NHL going on lock out every 6-8 years fighting over pennies will we see a shift in the talent.

I think OV heads over to the KHL in the next few years he threatened to during the lock out.

But I think most of the North American players stay in NHL.

I think it's an option for European players. David Ullstrom who's from Sweden decided to sign with a KHL team instead of trying to make the Isles roster next season.

He said leave NHL teams...:laugh3: I kid

Any player with half a brain will never mention the letters KHL ever again.

Seriously, if a player says those letters, their agents are going to kneecap them.

Yeah I can see more players like OV and Malkin leave when they are older or fringe Euro players now. But seriously when the Mob money runs dry they won't be able to afford to pay these guys.

Lol does that ever happen???

/sochi 2014 cost overruns are up to $39 BILLION ... Im guessing alot of these guys who own alot of these khl teams are getting some serious corrupt coin from their buddy putin to drive empty dump trucks back and forth lol

Malkin has his priorities in place | TribLIVE

This is a pretty good article that can be applied to some other Russian guys. Geno's escape from Russia will oddly enough keep him in the US for probably the rest of his career...I imagine that when he felt his family was threatened he was permanently turned from a KHL career.

Annnnd, already posted...oh well, still relevant.

Yeah that article makes you wonder if there wasn't something shady with Kovy?

I mean, it could be Geno being extra cautious because he's been burned before...but the fact that he felt the need to have his entire family come over? Man. You know those guys love their country, so it has to be a bit tough.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it here or not, but I have a NA bias... I love the way Shero drafts, basically drafts NA players or Euros that played Jrs here (no euros this year at all)...

WHAT in the frig are you guys talking about?!? OV's not going anywhere. I wish you could see the interview with OV's dad where he is talking about how without a Stanley Cup OV would never be satisfied. He's solid.

Besides, the contracts in the KHL are a joke compared to NHL money. We always hear how big they are, but the amounts are always very mysterious. Lot of puffery from the KHL if you ask me.

There's a word for that - xenophobia. And ask the Wings if Euros have worked out okay...

What if he wins 1 soon. I never thought Kovy would leave at 30
