Their asking price over the offseason is what’s ridiculous.

Yep. I imagine a lot of teams are nervous about Kimbrel's future performance given his poor 2nd half (he had 15 walks and a 4.57 ERA in 21.2 innings after the ASB) and abysmal postseason (7 R in 10.2 IP, 9 hits, 8 walks, 2 home runs allowed)

I hope no one signs their greedy asses (unless it's the Braves).

Maybe next time know your market. If Bryce Harper is having a hard time getting a rich contract, these two guys should have known the drop their asking prices.

Kimbrel priced himself out of the market and during the post season last year he certainly made it worse... If he was the Kimbrel of old during the play-offs then I would have seen him being taken first.... Kuechel will be my guess of who gets signed first... Teams need starters more than closers right now.... Why haven't the Yankees taken a shot on him yet?

I think both get signed but it's going to be for a lesser contract than they thought they'd get.

Baseball players ahve to realize at some point there is no "official" cap but there is a point where salaries can't keep going up unless revenues do. TV money is maxed, I don't see it going much higher. Attendance won't increase and I think what most teams can charge is about topped out.

It feels like every player is expecting to hit FA and make 300M, when that just isn't going to happen. There will be a dozen or so players that can command the top dollar, the rest need a dose of reality. What they should be focused on is in the next CBA trying to get to FA sooner. It's absurd that a player can be late 20's before he even has a chance to hit the open market.

They want long-term deals and the teams are not headed that way with pitching. They might both have to sign indy league contracts just to get the innings they need.

Revenue still is going up.

Plus the owners all got like 30-40 mil during the bamtech sale and salaries still went down.

Shit has drastically changed if a workhorse lefty is not on someone’s roster by now. Dude is an innings eater, you have to have those, even in this pussified era.

"Nobody loves this game as much as I do. To have it taken away from me was heartbreaking."

What theyll say after reducing their contract demands

And this is why there will be a strike.

With Kuechel talking about knowing what his value is and claiming that he won't sign for less than that, I'm not so sure that he plays this season--even after the draft.
