Not at all. Kaepernick was a wild card.....and now he's terrible. We knew what Smith was - a good, serviceable QB, and that's pretty much it.

I would personally take the serviceable QB over the wild card any day.

I get what you're saying. It's a risk/reward deal. If he turns out to be a superstar, you're set. If he fizzles, you're where the 49ers are now. I can't see the 49ers sticking with Kaepernick next season.
