Teams that are still in need of a RB will end up paying for him. Teams like the Lions, Jets, Packers, Eagles and Colts. But, if they are able to get a top RB from the draft, there's no need for them to overpay for a RB like Bell if they can get one for cheap in the draft. However, 2019 isn't very RB heavy. Last I checked, there were only 2 RBs projected in the first round
Lions traded up to get their RB. Colts have three. And neither team is win now.

GB and Philly I could see though. Or somewhere an injury happens. Tevin Coleman will be moving on at years end, someone gets that starting RB in the offseason. Minny can't run for shit this year, and they're gonna be desperate while the window is kinda open.

Packers are quite comfortable rotating three running backs and quite uncomfortable paying one ten times more than they're paying those three combined - particularly right after opening their wallets for the QB. You can cross the Packers off that list.

Right now, I'd say you could probably cross the Lions off that list too because they like what they're getting out of Kerryon Johnson.

why not point out how the defenses were between the two years as well.

Tunnel vision much?

Time of possession 2017: 31:55
Time of possession 2018: 28:59

Tunnel vision much?

If I were the Steelers gm,I'd take whatever I could for him........Connor has more than shown what his worth is to the team........
No way should Pitt pay for what Bell wants when you can get that type of production from him....

I know.

2017 with Bell: 13-3
2018 without Bell: 2-2-1

Yeah. Conner is a real beast. I'll bet DCs all over the league game plan for him. :rolleyes2:
Ok let's try this

Pitt is averaging 3 ppg more and 30 yards more without Bell than last year with him

So if they're scoring more and gaining more yards without Bell but aren't winning as much what do you think is the difference between last year and this year ?

I believe that shows the Defense is doing worse. They are not stopping the others offense.

BTW when the OC decides to give Conner plenty of carries, Pitt ends up winning. just saying.
Sounds like the only adjustment needed was the OC's adjustment. Pitts offense is fine, its the defense that has wet the bed.

Teams score more points when they're playing catchup than they do when they play with a lead and work to eat clock.

With Bell: Play with a lead, eat the clock, more time of possession, defense on the field less.
With Conner: Play from behind, conserve clock, less time of possession, defense on the field more.

At least you were able to leave the insult out of this post.

Pitt led at half of game one by 14, was tied ay half game 2, led at half of game 3 by 20, led midway through the 3rd quarter of game 5 by 17. The Steelers have trailed at half one time this year and in that game they scored 14 points . Any other theories?

We'll see when Bell comes back if they let him play. He's really fucked this all up as far as the way he's handled his contract situation. He's not worth what he's asking, but he's still one of the two best backs in the league. Or was. If he isn't conditioning, he's an even bigger fool.

Time of possession is a meaningless stat. 5 of the top 9 teams in the league for t.o.p are .500 or under and neither of the unbeatens teams are in the top 10. It means zero to winning

Can't Conner eat the clock? Why do they stop scoring in the 2nd half?

The stats may look the same, but if you can't do the situational stuff, you're not the same back.

To pretend you can plug any RB in for Bell is ludicrous.

The sad truth is... NFL running backs are like condoms.
  • You use them to pound holes.
  • They have a short usage life.
  • Once they're used, you throw them away and get a new one.
  • It doesn't matter how much you spend on them, you're gonna get pretty much the same results.

hello marion barber is a prime example

Connor has 17 carries for 36 yards in their 2 losses.

And has 27 carries that weren't on first down. He's not Bell. And it matters.

9 carries for 19 yards was real impressive in that loss last week. I know Inwas thinking "who needs Bell anyway?"

Or was that against the Falcons, when he looked like a competent back?

They never used him in those two losses. They just abandoned the run. And they did it long before it stopped being a logical choice to do so.

His ypc in those games outside of week 1 and 5 was still about 3.5. He wasn't sucking it up. And runs with loss of yardage usually point to a problem with the line letting someone into the backfield.

I hope someone pays Bell, but it better not be my Steelers. We're good.

YPC of 2.13 and 2.11. (2.6 on the season on second down.)

He was hurting the offense.

He has had success on first downs, that's it.
