I think Duran't legacy would take a greater hit, but really, the answer is neither. Lebron has been to six straight finals with two different teams. I am a hater, but at some point you need to be real about it. He's solidified his legacy as an all-time great. If he wins another, well, he may be making a run on MJ.

As for Durant, it is his first year with a new team and there is no great shame in losing to Lebron. I don't think he will lose, just to be clear, but if the Warriors lost no one outside OKC is going to be pointing and laughing at Durant. Note that Miami lost its first finals with Lebron too, and it was a supposed superteam.

It has to be James, how can Durant's legacy be tarnished? Fans already know that Kevin doesn't step up, that he shrinks when it comes to the big games, so how can you hurt that legacy? The only thing Kevin can do is improve his legacy or live up to it. LeBron can hurt his chances of being considered the GOAT by losing in another final.

Lebron is pretty proven at this point. He has the most to gain from anyone except KD but I don't think he has a ton to lose.

There's more upside for Lebron, more downside for Durant.

What? Uh one guy has won multiple Championships... the other guy has done jack shit except go to an even more WTF stacked team than Lebron did yet hasn't won anything.

Not sure if serious... troll thread?

Well,
Somebody has to lose.

If both play like this all series, the answer is neither regardless of the outcome. Basketball is a team game. Both have started off playing at a very high level.

Durant will be 0-2 in NBA finals despite the extreme beta move he made last summer. After he made that move it was either "Championship or Bust" If Lebron loses hes 3-5 in NBA finals which is NOT a good look when trying to be compared to the game's all time elite.

Here's a better question. Whose legacy gains more by winning it this year? Hands down it's Lebron. I'm sorry but Durant gets zero credit for winning this, none.

Oh the answer is CLEARLY KD(also Curry should be in this too)....but make no mistake about it, Lebron will and deserves to get this work if the Cavs lose. Don't matter that he has 3 titles because Kobe had 3 chips, lost Bynum/Ariza, got beat by a superteam, and still got KILLED for it. Fair or not, it's just the way it goes when you're an Elite mega star

No one gave him shit for losing to the 08 Celtics.

He got crap for running Shaq out of town and because he hadn't won any titles as the #1 alpha dog.

LeBron would get more, yes.

But KD gets plenty when GS wins. He is the early front runner for Finals MVP and he is piece that makes the Warriors completely unguardable. No doubt he is the Warriors best player.

Not sure dropping to 3-5 doesn't hurt Lebron's legacy.

Not really seeing how Lebron's legacy takes a hit unless it's just an asskicking for three more games. Which if Lebron plays like he did in game 1, that would be a shitty narrative but that is what would happen, imo.

I don't think it would hurt him as far as where most seem to have him ranked all time. But I think it would effectively remove him from the GOAT conversation.

And they didn't need him to win, that's why he gets zero credit.

You don't have to like it but it's true, Stephen A had it right. Weakest move ever by a "superstar".

They could have won without him. That much is true. He is not just a guy though, he is their best player. He makes the Warriors "the best team coach Ty Lue has ever seen". He deserves plenty of credit and he will get it.

As for the latter, Shaq started the whole beef, they both continued to bicker back and forth like kids, and in the end Jerry Buss didn't want to pay an aging Shaq.

As for the former, were you watching basketball after that 08 Finals?!? Kobe got ripped to shreds, and that was w/o having Bynum/Ariza, while losing to a superteam. Those little excuses of "well he had this many points/rebounds/assists so he's off the hook' has never exsisted for Kobe. It was always Kobe being blasted for losing no matter the situation
