I'm gonna disagree and say for game 1, our safeties will be Merriweather and Doughty. I don't think Reed will be starting at the end of the season, however. One of the rookies will take his place.

I'd like to answer this again after pre-season.
I would assume Meriweather is a given at SS or he could be moved to FS and Thomas starts at SS.
OR
Rambo at FS/Meriweather at SS. Doughty would appear to present another Madieu Williams situation.
And what I mean is I don't think Doughty is athletic enough to put up 4 quarters of excellent run support and solid pass coverage.
Of course he's clearly better than M.Williams

I think it ends up Rambo but see a Rambo/Thomas tcamp battle

or Thomas may be prime backup at both FS and SS.. and start if Rambo or Merriweather gets injured

hard to say if Tanard gets in mix

I'd love to see either of the rookies advance enough to start day 1. Its a big learning curve, however, and may take more than 6 weeks for the coaches to feel comfortable. They both also have to prove they can tackle consistently as the FS is the last line of defense.
