Who do you like for this year's class? Every year the Hall picks four candidates.

Players that could be considered...

Doug Gilmour
Joe Nieuwendyk
Mark Howe
Pavel Bure
Adam Oates
Sergei Makarov
Eric Lindros
Tom Barrasso
Dino Ciccarelli
Dave Andreychuk
Alexander Mogilny
Phil Housley
Pierre Turgeon

I like Oates, Bure, Gilmour and Lindros.

I was close to substituting Makarov for Lindros. Part of the KLM line and all. Won the Calder at like, 50 years old.

I couldn't stand Lindros from the moment he flipped off Quebec. But I can't deny he was an absolute monster on the ice, even if for a short time. I've never seen another player like that. His off ice antics coupled with the fact that every hockey fan in the world hates him are going to hurt his chances, but he was an elite hockey player.

Actually I don't have an issue with Lindros getting in the HHOF, but he should have to purchase a ticket (just like you and me).

I agree with dash....Lindros shouldn't get in.....

from the list you provided.....Ciccarelli should already be in

I like Housley...great offense and longevity....

As a Penguin fan I would like to see Barrasso....the high school phenom...but I think he was a little too inconsistant...and not to mention...a dick...

Just my view on a couple of the names...not a comprehensive list...

Lmao. How about Nieuwendyk? He's got the resume. Multiple 50 goal seasons, Calder Trophy, Conn Smythe, 3 Cups, and he's in the 500-500 club. THN just wrote an article saying he should get in this year. But still something about that feels wrong. He started out on fire and then quickly turned into one of those second tier guys. Like an elite second liner. Just seems like the bar's kinda low if he gets in.

Nah, I disagree (homer bias alert). He put up some great regular season numbers, but he was clutch in the playoffs as well (both for the Flames and the Dallas Stars). I think his numbers tailed off towards the end due to the repeated pounding he took from defensemen in front of the net (the body can only take so much). He might not be a first ballot hall-of-famer, but he should definitely make it in the not too distant future.

I don't think you're being a homer at all. Nieuwendyk deserves to be in the hall as much as anyone on that list. I'd also attribute a lot of his decrease in scoring to playing out the final years of his career in the prime of the clutch and grab era. Everyone's scoring went down in the 90's. Joe was one of the best players in the league for a long time and had success with every team he played for (even Toronto!).

Damphousse. I am not sure why he isn't on that list.

As a Canucks fan I want Bure in there. The only player to lead the league in goals three different seasons and not be in the HHoF. Numbers compare to Neely. International numbers heavily favour Bure.

Probably too many recent retirees that deserve to be in ahead of Pavel Bure, so he may have to wait, but, he should be in there.

I'm going to do likewise, comeds, with a campaign to get Mike Vernon in the HHOF. 2 Cups, a Conn Smythe and this little additional nugget.

He is currently the winningest eligible goalie that isn't in the Hall.

I don't think Big Eric will ever make it and doesn't deserve it

A goalie has to be able to win by doing more than riding coattails. :P

No Osgood either. Ever.

My four:

Ciccirelli. And he should be honored with a statue right in front of the goalie display making it impossible to see around him.
Gilmour - No brainer
Bure - Again, duh.
Makarov - was always one of my faves.

As for Lindros, he'll get there eventually, but not until a lean year. It's a shame they don't have a "warning to all young fans and players" category. He'd be a shoe-in. He put up great numbers under tremendous pressure. Shame he had to be under the spiteful eye of Bob Clarke and his moron parents. Coulda been something.
