If he was going to drop it on Raw it should've been to a guy like Samoa Joe. I keep hearing NXT is great but there hasn't been one called up recently that has entertained me. Neville is alright but in the PG era and no cruiserweight division I can't see his act lasting.
I felt for sure that Owens would be the one to take the belt off of Cena at EC, but since he still holds the NXT title, I don't see it happening Sunday. Maybe in the next matchup between them.
Should have been/should still be Samoa Joe. I say should have been because the surprise is kinda already spoiled since he's showed up in NXT but I thought the perfect debut for him would be to have his first appearance be on that Raw challenge (make sure its a big time wrestling city so the fans pop huge).
Imagine they're in a city like Philly or Chicago. Cena issues the challenge. There is a lull as no one shows. The lights go out and a little kid's voice says over the speakers "Joe's gonna kill you..." which goes into a heavy bass drum song. Out walks Samoa Joe. The roof would go off the place. He and Cena have a good match but Joe doesn't stop. He gets himself DQ'd with a vicious beating of Cena, which sets up a long term feud.
He deserves one WWE run before he retires and at his age it's now or never. the problem is that he's making so much money in Japan and the indies he might be priced out of the market as a 38 year old rookie.i still think both sides should go for it. If Bryan's injury is as legitimately as they're saying I can see Styles filling that void in the upper mid card.
Rusev will shave his head, wax his body in his return as the siberian slayer. Maybe he will just wear a mask. He can pass for middle eastern as well, maybe a long lost nephew of the iron sheik.
The open challenge is ok, but that belt only seems to work with its an iron sheik kind of america hater.
