None deserve it. It is just the financial bone the Power 5 is willing to donate to pacify the G5s.

Why don’t they deserve a NY6 game? Every Group of 5 has been matched up with a top 10 Power 5 team and they are 3-2 on those games since the inception of the playoffs. Boise and Houston in particular handled their opponents and UCF’s win was impressive as well. And before the playoffs in the BCS era the non-power teams won almost every time. Boise (3 times), Utah (twice), even TCU who beat top 4 Wisconsin in the Rose.

Hell UAB had a solid squad last year. Not sure about there non-conference schedule, but still in the discussion. They will more likely drop a game to an inferior in conference team than not, but it could happen.

I was just trolling those P5 die hard "the G5s wouldn't have a good record if they had to play the grind of a "real" schedule." folks.

And, I'll go to my grave believing the '10 TCU team could have handled Auburn or Oregon had they been given the chance. They matched up better against those two teams better than they did Wisky.

Ain't Army Independent?

But, it'd be great to see one of the academies in a NY6 bowl.

Ole Charlie isn't doing so great at USF so far

Memphis kind of struggled last year but they return a lot. If they can handle Ole Mrs week 1 then they're a threat, the next step would be closing the deal against UCF

Temple had the same overall record as Memphis and a 1 game difference from USF.
Temple did beat USF so I can give on that.
I dont know if its fair to Charlie since he is only in year 2. 10 wins in year 1 and 7 in year 2 I would wait to say he isnt doing great.
Memphis struggled? won their division and played for the conference title is struggled?

Northwestern won their division and played for the conference title and they definitely struggled last season.

I'm not saying Temple should be included in this either, they went through two coaches and didn't land a great one. I think they'll drop off

South Florida ended the year on a 6 game losing streak, makes me think it's falling apart there.

To be fair Memphis only one the division because Houston suffered a QB injury late, Memphis was blown out by Tulane and Missouri. However, Memphis definitely belongs on this last, they bring a lot back and could be tops in the AAC this year but the Ole Mrs game in week long goes a long way towards figuring that out

Best shot is probably UCF, with Cincinnati a close second.

If one of those teams falters, then the MWC champs - whoever that might turn out to be - would be the next team up. Appalachian St. after that.

Yes it would.
A question though. The bowl games are given out on the sunday after the CCGs. With Army having a game with Navy a week later. would they give Army a NY6 bowl and hope Army doesn't lose to Navy?

Probably not, unless they were 11-0 going into the Navy game.

I agreed with the 11-0 part until I looked at Army's schedule. They have one as bad as UCF, and with the exception of Michigan, probably worse. Army has two FCS games. Even if they beat Michigan and go 11-0, they probably will not get the NY6 bowl. IMO

edit
if they do get the bid, it will be just fine with me!!!

I thought about that after I posted. I think they have two FCS games next year, too.
