Army and BYU are technically not eligible to get this bid by the way. If they go unbeaten they could get an at-large though

Appy State, baby.

Though, losing Satterfield is a big blow, he was a heck of a coach.

If McKenzie Milton happens to come back healthy for UCF, then no brainer UCF. But...

Cincinnati, Boise State, Army, and UCF. Army looks the most dangerous a triple option team can look. Fresno State a darkhorse.

FYI, if Hawaii can fix that O-line, field a competent defense, and Cole McDonald 100%, they're a sneaky contender, even if their schedule is alot tougher from last year. Or at the very least a scary spoiler for Fresno and Boise. Their offense is that explosive. They have Washington, Fresno, Boise, and Army all on the schedule. Plus Arizona with Khalil Tate to begin the season. Definitely a boom or bust season for them.

Idk about UAB. North Texas looks like the premiere CUSA team, IMO.

the only game S&P+ projects Appy to lose right now is the South Carolina game (34% win probability). they should be plenty good again

If App State avoids a rocky transition, watch out yet again

Appy usually gives P5 teams all they can handle. The last 3 years, they've taken ranked Tennessee and Penn State teams to OT, lost by 1 to Wake Forest and was shutting out UGA until Fromm took over for an injured Eason. They might not beat SC, but I'd bet they don't lose by more than one score.

I know a couple former players, they're easily my favorite G5 team.

Was not aware of that. I figured since Notre Dame was considered P5, the others would be considered G5.

Really going out on a limb here but I think it’s likely UCF again. Speed kills and their offense is explosive. If their defense is even halfway adequate they get the nod. Milton will have to sit this season and I would start Wimbush in his place. I watched the CCG and the bowl game and the Mack kid was not impressive to me, especially against those LSU back ups. I think they can even afford to drop a game and still get in as long as they win their conference. Their competition outside of the AAC is the MWC champion and I’d be shocked if one of those teams emerges undefeated. The other Group of 5 conferences all suck and don’t pose a threat IMO.

I don’t know much about North Texas other than their QB Mason Fine is a quality player. I did watch them lose by 40 in their bowl to a Utah State team that did not win their division in a game that seemed even worse than the score.

They are and they are not.

G5 stands for the Group of 5 Leagues. (The one's not in P5) Only a League Champion from one of the other
5 Leagues is "guaranteed" a spot. Now BYU or Army could be another at-large, but it would be a pipe dream'
to believe that one of the P5 leagues is going to give up a second spot to a mid-major team.

I tend to agree with this. Houston and Cincy are sleepers but it will likely be one of those three.

I thought Georgia Southern was a deep sleeper a few years ago, so not falling for that one again.

None deserve it. It is just the financial bone the Power 5 is willing to donate to pacify the G5s.
