When the pre-season votes were cast in January as to who would win the Mtn West Conference this season in softball the following is how each team in the MWC fared in the voting:
1. Boise State (8) 64
2. Fresno State (1) 57
3. San Jose State 50
4. UNLV 35
5. San Diego State 31
6. Nevada 29
7. Colorado State 26
8. Utah State 21
9. New Mexico 11
So I thought it would be interesting to see which of these Mtn West teams Boise State has to play on the road this year. Notice how the top three teams right below Boise State in the voting are all ROAD games this year for Boise State:
1. Boise State
2. Fresno State - Boise State plays FSU on the road
3. San Jose State - Boise State plays SJS on the road
4. UNLV - Boise State plays UNLV on the road
5. San Diego State - Home games for Boise State
6. Nevada - Home games for Boise State
7. Colorado State - Home games for Boise State
8. Utah State - Home games for Boise State
9. New Mexico - Boise State plays NM on the road
Personally I think every team in the MWC should play two games (not three) against every other Mtn West team at home AND away each season. In other words play four games against all other MWC opponents with two of the games at home and two away games. That would be a total of 32 MWC games per season. Currently each team plays 24 MWC games but half of them are road games, i.e., only 12 conference home games per season.
