As I recall, he was largely instrumental in our 6-0 start in 09. That was our first year in 3-4. Then McDaniels went on a power trip and things went south fast. I see he's the LB coach in Nawlins. It should be pretty clear now that Joe Woods isn't cut out to be running a defense. I'm thinking Nolan would be a good replacement.

Anybody else, or am I just venting?

Wasn't Nolan run out of Green Bay at the end of last year?

I just hope that if we change our coaching staff that the new coach can pick his own staff and not have Elway tell them they will have.

Nolan was the HC with the 49ers when the 9ers defeated the Broncos the final game of the season, preventing us from advancing to the playoffs ... Later that night, Darrent Williams was shot and killed ..

There was no GM in SF when Nolan was hired, and he drafted Frank Gore, Alex Smith and Vernon Davis in his two drafts ..

Was he giving a fair shot ?? .. Bill Walsh died during Nolan's tenure, and they fired him mid season after starting 2-5 in favor of Mike Singletary ..

He's 59 years old, hardly over the hill

I'd be onboard ... heck, at this point, I'd consider him a HC option

The problem with letting coach change staff . You might as well have a fire sale on 90% of players .

Your QB might not cut mustard .

You need find a system .

ELway and Kubiak know a system that has won a shit load of SB's

That means we need to stay with what brought us to all those SB's we played in .

And is Now our symptom of problems with our OL that still needs to be fixed .

We need someone out of I do think Nolan knows Wade Phillips system since it is basically what his dad did for us in the 3-4

I believe it was said that Wade thought he was a bad head coach. So you are saying hire a guy for a position that he believes he is not good at?

Not sure that makes a lot of sense to me.

I also don't know if Wade would want to come back with how he was shown the door.

He was saying that to keep the moment light and keep his team pointed towards the SB it worked by the way .

He would of took the Head coach job . He just did not want question asked 50 times a day is all

He is a great Defensive coach, but going from a coordinator to head coach is a completely different deal. I like Wade. If we choose to give him a second opportunity to be our head coach I am ok with it. He needs a strong OC.

I noticed on another board people mentioning bringing in Rex Ryan. That I'm not as sure of. If we get a strong HC, I wouldn't necessarily mind him as DC, but only if we get a strong DC. Rex has a big personality and if the next man in charge is as weak as Vance, Rex may become a headache.

I am not sure there is enough room in Denver for 2 big egos. Elway's is big enough as it is.

Mike Nolan- The new era of football has sorta passed his style up like it has many other coaches.

Well, the same could be said for the Doug Marrone / Tom Coughlin pairing, and that hasn't necessarily been the case ..

What worries me is that with every green, unproven head coaching prospect, there will inevitably be the ".. since Sean McVey" comparisons, unfairly projecting every Jim Bob Cooter as the next genius kid coach ..

What this team lacks more than anything is a bonafide leader. Hopefully with Von’s last spiel, he’s ready to put this team on his back

It almost got Coughlin, he adjusted and then he got bit at the end.

I don’t consider Marrone old school from the players I have known that have played for him.

Jim Schwartz would be another good example.

Have you talked to Tashaun Gipson ?

First of all, Mr. Coughlin, winning is what he has done,” Jaguars safety Tashaun Gipson said. “Even dating back to when he was the coach here in Jacksonville, obviously, he won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants and he understands what winning is about. You pair him with a guy like Doug, who is just an old-school coach, a blue-collar kind of guy, you know you are going to work.

Yes. I chat with Tashaun Gipson as a matter of fact. Not about Doug Marrone though.

Working hard is not old school. Players like Marrone. They play for him. They buy into his style.

Players do not buy into Schwartz and Mike Nolan as a head coach. My comment had nothing to do with how hard a coach makes you work.

i want a proven commodity .

If not I want the best be it D Coordinator or O Coordinator

I would be fine with Best in College football as long as they don't want to build a team in their image (College Football coaches seem to fall on that sward) and want to work in zone blocking and west coast for most part.

Our Staff is set up for that.
