Charlie should have started tonight.

Maybe he should be the opener for the BP games and let Arihara come in and pitch 2-3 innings and then Keuchel go 2 innings but if they must continue to employ Dallas, he never needs pitch more than 2 innings. Joking mostly but they need to do something different because what they have done all season hasn't worked worth a $hit.

Novel idea would have been try and pluck a guy at the trade deadline to get you another starter or sign a couple proven guys in the offseason when you really had no proven 4th or 5th starter. This FO makes it hard on themselves, the manager and the players, the way they go about things.

Actually, there are ten teams in MLB with a worse record than us.

I didn't mention anything about Blain Crim for awhile because he had a bad June and July. He has been on fire since then and he had a great month of May as well. The kid simply hits very well everywhere he goes.

Speaking of slumps in June and July, I wonder how much effect the record setting heat had on guys in the Texas League who had never encountered anything like that before.

We counted on pitching depth that did not develop early enough at best. Surely thought Winn and Reagans would be in rotation and Howard has been useless

We need AAA depth which may or may not happen as well as starting pitching

I think Ragans made it as soon or sooner than anyone expected.

Winn is a really big disappointment and that should get our AAA pitching coach fired. In fact, Alexy might also be a candidate for the rotation now if we had had a better pitching coach there.

It is the front office's fault for placing any hopes in Howard.

A typical summer is bad enough, but this was not a typical summer. I looked into Crim's history a couple of weeks ago and he never had played in an environment with weather like this. He did seem to finally adjust though.

And they will be better, but probably not until next year.

Those two are not surrounded by very much proven talent though. Some of the young guys will look good in spurts, but that will lend itself to some foolish looking results at times.

I agree. I was listening to the pregame on the radio before the first game. And they were saying that Boston hasn’t been good lately. Seems everyone gets out of their slumps when they play the Rangers. Wish we had a manager that doesn’t want to play Calhoun almost every game.
