What were your thoughts.....

On us going for it on 4th down from the 22 yard line with 3 minutes left in the game?

We had a 13 point lead at the time, so a field goal would have forced Washington to score two TD's and convert on two 2-point conversions just to force overtime.

It didn't end up mattering as we intercepted a pass to end it, but personally I didn't understand it. We had a good 3 yards to pick up that first down...........sure, if we pick it up then we win..........but if we don't pick it up (like what happened), then we let an offense that has the ability to score quickly right back onto the field.

I wanted the field goal, but maybe Bo was feeling confident enough in our Offensive Line at that point that he wanted to let them go out and pick it up to build some more confidence. Just wanted to see what you guys thought by it.

Washington had 2 drives in that game where they went all the way down the field in less than 30 seconds............

They put our secondary to shame........

I didn't see that as game over at all.

Bo said it was his decision and he didn't feel like they were at all in danger if they didn't convert. Which they should have. They were breaking of 5, 7, and 9 yard runs with the same play like 12 times in a row. They had U-Dubs D-Line dead to rights.

Yea I heard him say that............it isn't often that Bo and myself see things differently. I pretty much agree with every single thing he does...........but I guess I was thinking at that point about getting the W and only the W.

The fact that Washington had our defense on it's heels right there was enough for me to call for a field goal if I was coach.

They had just reeled off 21 points on us in a total of 3 mins and 4 seconds worth of time. All of that was kind of going through my mind at the time.

Heck I thought they would the way NU was controlling the line of scrimmage.

Yea I can understand what he was thinking........I just wasn't feeling the decision myself I guess. On 3rd and 1 they pushed us back 2 yards........kind of gave them a little momentum heading into 4th down.........then they knew exactly what we were going to do on 4th and 3.

I think when an average offensive line lines up against an average defensive line, with both teams knowing what the upcoming play is, and the defense loads the box.........it is almost 90% of the time not going to turn out in the offense's favor...........unless, of course, you have a pipeline for an O-Line.

burkhead had been running for 4-5 yds minimum before that...not saying i would not have liked the 3 points, but i can see where the coaching staff was coming from.

side note...a buddy on the team was standing next to Bo when we called the same play like 11 times in a row...he said bo told beck in the headset "If you stop running that play before they show they can stop it, i will fucking fire you!"

I didn't like the call.....3 points there and you force them to score two td's, AND convert two 2 point conversions just to force OT.....

If it was 4th and 1, I wouldn't of cared as much probably......4th and 3 is not just a given, and the field goal would have been......(I know not for sure, but it would have been a given....)

Exactly my thinking. I am not conservative at all when it comes to play calling either...........but at that point, I honestly just wanted to get away from that game with the win and move on. We've got bigger fish to fry....

I didn't agree with the call, I fully expected Maher to kick in the easy 3. What's all this shit about Finishing games out the last 2 years? I realize that it kept the clock running down and how we were getting huge chunks of yards running power, but last year we couldn't even get close enough to kick a damn field goal.
