What is the most confusing signing, trade, or extension in the last 10 years for any team?
Looking at the stats, mine would be the extension the Buffalo Bills gave Ryan Fitzpatrick. He was coming off the year with 24 touchdowns and 23 interceptions. His average yards attempt was 6.7 and his completion percentage was 62%. Why would you need to hurry up to extend that to the level they did? I guess one thing to consider was they gave him an extension midseason as opposed to right after those numbers.
My second-place vote goes to Mark Sanchez. Sure keep him as your starter, but why such an extension that early and for that much? Where was he going?
Other candidates for me are Matt Flynn, Michael Vick, and Kevin Kolb, if you were talking about size of contract. But even then, each of those had their reasons. I don't understand Fitzpatrick. A similar one for me was Singletary. I know that he did win more than Nolan but I'm sure we could've waited a little bit to name him as coach. In the end, we got Harbaugh because of his failure, so it wasn't all bad.
