Have you ever thought about how things have worked out for certain players in the NFL??

What if the Indianapolis Colts had made Ryan Leaf their first round selection instead of Peyton Manning? Would Leaf have been a better NFL QB playing in the dome at Indianapolis or would he have been as much of a stiff? What if the Colts had traded the pick to Green Bay or Chicago? With as much difficulty that Peyton has had in cold or bad weather, would he have gotten used to it and been as effective or dominant as he's been with the Colts and Broncos?

What if the Dallas Cowboys had taken Tom Brady in the fifth round of the 2000 draft and not let him get taken at 199 in the sixth round by the Patriots. Would Brady have three rings?? Playing in a comfy stadium with as much talent as Romo has had surrounding him, would Jerry Jones have made sure that Brady had all of the weapons available?? Would Brady have thrown for 60 TDs and 6000 yards?
Would Belichick have been anywhere close to as successful as he's been with Brady??

What if San Diego had been able to convince Drew Brees that SD was the place to play. Could Brees have been anywhere near as great with the San Diego management and coaching?

What if Atlanta had decided to keep Aaron Rogers? or Matt Shaub??

There are a million more what ifs, but it's makes one really wonder where would things be today of not for one simple decision..............yes or no. It's all the difference betwen being at the top of the pile or suffocating under it.

Good...but really broad topic...ATL that was Farve, not Rogers...the topic doesn't come up that much here really...word is Farve was more or less still thinking he was in college when he 1st got to the NFL.

San Diego did not want to take a chance on Brees due to a shoulder injury. He was a FA at the end of 2005 (he sustained that injury in the season finale that year) and the Chargers let him walk. They had Phil Rivers waiting in the wings, so an injured Brees was expendable. This was back when the Chargers fans still liked A.J. Smith.

We could ask this for EVERY single draft that has taken place.

Just think about how many times and teams passed on Brady.

Some teams might have passed on him 5-7 times ALONE. Scary.

There's loads of cool what if's. Regarding Brady, I think the Pats would have still done okay with someone else, as long as they drafted someone with a reasonable work ethic who could work with Belichick.

I think Manning would be fine anywhere really. Whether he'd be quite as successful depends on the other players on the team I guess.

I stand by the fact that the Dolphins should have drafted Brady Quinn instead of Ted Ginn, regardless of the but Quinn has been, because John Beck was worse (you can't really call an early second round QB a "bust" as such).

Favre was traded because he showed up hungover to practice quite a bit in Atlanta. His career flourished under disciplinarian coaches and was not so hot with lax ones.

"What if"... Sherman came back to Compton, made the Raiders "relevant again" and resulted in a newly built "Black Hole" nest for Al to finally lay rest in....?

I still believe Leaf would have had the same out come in Indy as he did in San Diego. Mora wouldn't have lasted there, Leaf was a coach killer, he lacked discipline, and focus on the game.

the colts said when they interviewed Leaf they asked him what he would do if the Colts picked him. Leaf responded with throw a big party. Colts said that was the big red flag to them. manning it was.

If SD picks PManning, then they may not be sitting there #1 to take Eli and the Giants might not have ended up with him. Colts might have sucked with Leaf and Eli could have ended up being drafted by the Colts.

Yep but the thread is "what if" so were guessing as to what if history went the other way....
