Wilkins is one of those guys that has a lot of analytics around him suggesting NFL success and pro bowls in his future.

2nd rounder we need a long term starter and it sound like this kid has that potential.

Given Vic’s track record of drafting D in Chi and SF I’d be very happy with this draft.

If we could trade back a little and still get Wilkins huge grand slam

Elway has lived up to his rep as a wheeler dealer, even last year there was supposedly a deal in place with the Bills until Chubb fell to 5. I'm willing to bet that the Broncos don't select a player at 10 - I just don't know whether its a trade up to get a QB, or a trade down.

I wouldn’t be upset...but I think this is a deep class for DTs and one can be had second or even third round that could end up being a very good player. So my preference isn’t taking a position here that is deep.

No, but we would have gotten #12, #22, and one of their 2nd round picks (#53 or #57, iirc)

12 - S Derwin James/LB Tremaine Edmunds (Leighton Vander Esch could have been a possibility also, but I think most people had Edmunds rated higher)
22 - TE Hayden Hurst/WR Calvin Ridley/G Isaiah Wynn/QB Lamar Jackson/LB Darius Leonard (although, most would have thought that would be a reach at that point)

53 - S Jesse Bates/CB Donte Jackson
or
56 - CB Isaiah Oliver/CB Carlton Davis/LB Fred Warner/S Justin Reid

And this is without giving up pick #40 (Courtland Sutton).

Now, I think ideally in this scenario, we go James at 12, then trade up from 22 to get one of the LBers. Picks 22 and 71 is more than enough to move up to #16 (where Edmunds went. James went at #17). 71 turned out to be Royce Freeman.


I know, I know... if my aunt had balls. And we would have had to maneuver that perfectly, but it may have been worth it.

But I love Chubb and I'm sure there is a scenario where we blow those picks (the way it looks so far, anyway) and end up with a steaming pile of...

Too high for Wilkins. I'd argue Denver needs edge more than interior DL, sooner. There's a few guys who can be at pick 10 who can play interior or edge. Wilkins isn't one of them.
