That seems like the key point in all of this. Chicago can stay in games, 3 close losses in a row. Playcalling is there. The team has enough talent to be a playoff team THIS YEAR but poor coaching, situational blunders is why they are where they are and that is on the head coach. He he is a coordinator, not a HC…at least at this point in his career
I don't know. I thought the Lions were blowing the doors off the Bears and they were lucky to be in the game to a certain degree. Maybe the same with the Skins game.

I think they're the last place team in the best division.

Man, if Chicago wins that game he keeps his job the rest of the year and has a chance at staying next year too.

I don't know about next year but he would have gotten to next week, and most likely the end of the season.

Yeah, had the Bears pulled out the dub, Flus would likely have remained for at least a few more games, if not all the way thru. But the odds are unless he ran the table for the remaining schedule, extremely unlikely, he still would have been canned.

I'm guessing he was all but fired after the Washington/Arizona/New England stretch.

Spitballing I could see..

Ben Johnson to Cinci
Bill Belichick to Jacksonville
Kliff Kingsbury to Chicago
Mike Vrabel to Dallas.
Todd Monken to the Giants

Jags have the 1 GM in the league that is maybe worse than Belichick. I don't know if teams are even going to want Belichick tbh

Vrabel to Cowboys would be scary af. He can coach and has a great defensive mind.

I don't know about BB to Jacksonville. I could see him going to the Bengals over any other club.

Why would anyone give Kingsbury a HC job?

I really think Steve Sarkisian for Dallas.

Jerry & Vrabel? Jerry wasn't interested this past off season,
Jerry & Sarkisian? Looks like a match to me.

Cinci would be the top job if it ends up on the market. So whoever is the top candidate would get it. I'm just not quite sure who that is

I would be very surprised if no one hired Bill Belichick this year if he wanted to coach.

Vrabel to Dallas isn’t a good match, imo…. Jones likes a high scoring offense… Vrabel likes, tough defense, running the ball - a more patient, boring style of offense. I don’t think Jones would want that philosophy. I think there is a reason he tends to hire offensive minded coaches. He did let Dan Quinn go… I could see him going to the Bears or Giants before the Cowboys.

Yeah, now that you explain it that way, you're right. I take back what I said. Last two head coaches have been offensive minded and that's probably what he'll stick with.

Bears or Giants will almost certainly be starting 23 year old QBs next season. I think they'd be looking at an offense-oriented Head Coach. Those are tough markets, though, (as is Dallas) so maybe they just get the toughest guy out there.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson “might have some interest” in the Bears’ head coaching vacancy.
Schefter is playing coy with a connection that has been made for months. The Bears, fresh off firing Matt Eberflus midseason, are in the market for a new head coach. Johnson, in turn, will be the hottest name this hiring cycle. Chicago has No. 1 overall pick Caleb William and an elite cast of pass-catchers on offense plus a dominant defense on the other side of the ball. It’s undoubtedly one of the best head coaching vacancies in recent memory. Johnson pulled out of the head coaching carousel last offseason to stay with the Lions and has the offense firing on all cylinders through three months. Detroit ranks first in points per game and second in yards per game as of Week 12. If Johnson can land the plane with a postseason run, he will have multiple opportunities to lead a team next year.
