I mean do we make a cut on a player to get cap space (Jeff Heuerman) or sign a veteran (Prince Amukamara)?

I'm really surprised to seeing that how many veteran corners are out their. Prince Amukamara, Logan Ryan, Eli Apple, Darqueze Dennard, Trumaine Johnson, Dre Kirkpatrick, Brandon Carr, Aqib Talib, Morris Claiborne.

Just an observation on that!!! Doesn't mean that I'm really excited about any of those players.

Yeah- I was just thinking the other day about the CB's still out there. I thought a few would get scooped up early after the draft.

Eli Apple had agreed to terms with the Raiders but they backed out of the deal and haven't seen a lot on him since. His strongest interest since has been with the Eagles. Great tackler, struggles in coverage. Bad rep coming out of the Giants as a bad teammate who didn't care enough. (Fitting he signed with the Raiders ;)) I have always been an Apple fan though. Been a letdown so far as the 10th overall pick, but he has proved he can play in the NFL at least. He has gotten better since his failure with the Giants where he just didn't fit in.

Logan Ryan will not be returning to the Titans, he has had interest from plenty of teams mostly recently the Jets and Lions. Not getting the money he wants, he probably signs a 1 year deal at this rate. He was looking to cash in on a big 3rd contract. Ryan fits really any scheme, but while fairly dependable, nothing really special to fork over big money with. The Jets have shown the strongest interest but Matt Patricia would love to add another member from his Defense in NE.

Dre Kirkpatrick- Has been linked to the Falcons prior to the draft. I figured the Cardinals might have an interest with Vance Joseph's connection to Kirkpatrick in Cincinnati.

Amukamara has been really quiet. Denver makes some sense as we could add a vet CB on a 1 year deal. He could be waiting, holding out a bit longer.

Trumaine Johnson really declined since his deal with the Jets. Few red flags there and declining... At some point a team with young CB's in need of a vet will come knocking. Haven't seen him linked anywhere in awhile.

Brandon Carr probably retires. Don't think there is much interest there... Could be scooped up during the season for a vet with experience. Not much left there.

Darqueze Dennard- Probabl signs soon. Some reason I get this thought that Kansas City could sign one of these guys and Dennard makes a lot of sense... With Breeland's off field issues up in the air already likely facing a 4 game suspension I think they will look at a guy like Dennard. He plays the slot fairly well.

Aqib Talib- I really wonder what will happen with him... He declined the year we traded him and when a vet declines with character issues it usually doesn't last much longer for him. If Talib offered good mentoring to young CB's he'd probably last a few years like Terence Newman. Talib is a lot like Terrell Owens and Ocho Cinco though. Great players, but aren't as appealing to keep around after their decline because of character issues. Someone with good character who is proven in the NFL serves a better purpose to stick around as a mentor/coach/leader for other players to learn from. They might linger for an extra few years because of it.

Morris Claiborne- Claiborne couldn't even crack the active roster for KC last year. He is hanging around the NFL by the hair of his chinny chin chin. Never lived up to his hype coming out of college, but lingers around the NFL as a depth CB. He has ZERO interest right now, might get another year out of him when injuries pile up. Or could be a late camp player who doesn't survive cuts. Either way it appears his time in the NFL is about up.

@wishful thinking nice thread.

I think the uncertainty has frozen the market place. This logjam will brake when someone cuts a deal and sets the market for this set of FAs.

Talib was certainly a favorite player of mine. He would cover you all day long and beat you up physically and psychologically. It appeared his objective was to take the manhood away from anyone he was covering. I don't think he was a negative in the locker room, by my way of thinking. He plays like a street thug. I don't know how much he has left. On the other hand, Talib was a gentleman compared to Romo.

As far as transactions go - I was kind of amazed how last year Fangio always - almost obsessively - kept the Broncos roster at the maximum NFL count even during the spring. Prince Amukamera maybe the most logical signee, but the Broncos are acting like they truly expect Callahan to be ready to play this season. So maybe there is no need for another CB.

For the record- I wasn’t referring to Talib being any sort of cancer in the locker room. As far as I’ve ever heard he has always been well loved/respected by his teammates. Just don’t see him as a guy who gets an extra year or two in the NFL because of leadership skills. Just not part of his game, IMO.

We could hang onto Heuerman until we have to let him go. Could be a potential late round draft pick trade for a team who has a tight and go down in camp.

LOL - I was thinking today that was Freeman's usefulness at this point.

I can’t imagine us not adding a vet OT to the roster. The depth currently is shaky at best.

I get the impression we are still building, and may use any injuries as an opportunity develop the backups. I think in 2021 we would be more like to sign a vet after the draft.

Now if we get to week 8 and we are sitting at 6-2 or something like that, the story may change.

We will not sign anyone until the supplemental Draft! We may have a lot of college players bail for the NFL yet.

The 19 hangover threat might have a huge number of college football plays say give me the money!

I think that anyone leaving the team in the coming weeks will be future contract players. As good as our draft and UDFA signings were, I think they pretty much want to walk into camp with the 90 they've got.

I can see as injuries mount across the league that we'll trade players for picks, but for those who play canasta, I have a feeling we're looking to go out concealed.

Right now, OT is the only position I'd really like to see us address before camp opens.

I agree, although I still believe with a decent cb signing we could be a top rated defense, barring injury. I agree about OT, Peters would be my choice on a short term deal. Im truly excited for this season and the future of this team

OC our Head coach the other day said he is fine going into this season with the depth he has at CB. I am with you Cb is what I don't like and I don't like S all that much but Fangio seems fine with our team.
