Great game but wasn't perfect. What didn't you like about the game?

I did not like the DL push. IT seemed like Jones, Purcell, Harris and Williams did not get a good push in the pocket on passing plays. You would love to see them push that OL back. I also didn't like the play of Malik Reed and Jonathon Cooper.

The Jerry Jeudy injury. I didn't feel like Justin Simmons played all that well either. He didn't play terrible but seems like he always has a few games a year he plays average. I want to see him take that next step after his contract and put together a bit more consistent play. Hard to complain with him though for the most part. He never plays awful.

Second thing was the KJ Hamler drop. Hate to see a guy drop a bomb pass because we haven't had many of those in recent years, but it will hopefully only make him better...

D will need to tighten up and play a bit more physical against the better offenses in the NFL. But this was a good game to win and learn from and get better from.

Cooper only played 17 snaps. Not much of an opportunity for a rookie in his very first game. I thought Dre'Mont Jones played decent. Shelby Harris will play better.

The drops by Hamler ( the most egregious) , Simmons and Fuller. In close games those would be game changers. If the ball goes through your hands catch it.
The fumble by Albert O again a killer in a close game.

I agree Dan Jones escaped up the middle too many times. Lucky he has butter fingers.

But a win is a win especially in Sept.

Fangio didn't offer much on the Jeudy injury other then he will miss some time.

Which with an ankle sprain like that nobody can really tell so I wouldn't expect any exact time table... 4-6 weeks seems likely. Thankful it isn't worse. Courtland Sutton should see a spike in targets going forward. Good to have Tim Patrick around.

We will likely bring a WR off the PS because we only have 5 WR's on the roster with Jeudy... Cleveland has more experience then Seth Williams and we are early in the season so my guess is probably Tyrie.. I doubt we sign a vet. No word if Jeudy will go on IR but I sorta of guess he will as it will almost surely be at least 3 weeks.

Inside DLine play was a little lacking. You have to know Jones is a bigger run threat than a passer on a few of those plays up the middle. The drop by Hamler and fumble by Albert O were both bad. Better teams make you pay. As I mentioned in another thread PS2's lack of playing time and play were a let down after a great preseason. Also, run game push could be better. Without the Gordon long run the yards per play would have been pretty weak.

I think all they got was an X-ray yesterday to determine NO fracture. In Denver, they’ll likely do more imaging on the soft tissue to continue diagnosis.

The one thing I wondered about is QB play. We appear to have a great QB with a B- arm. Are we trading off that veteran QB experience for deep strike arm strength, and does that make for a smaller box and tighter running lanes.

I look at KC and Hill and how that stretches the D. It’s possible that may be a drawback to Teddy unless he can make them pay with some deep strikes. Hamler gave him an opportunity yesterday, but they couldn’t convert.

At least it sounds like no surgery. That is big.

I actually think it is really good that we played decent, won but also a lot of things we need to get better at. It is week 1 and teams learn most from their mistakes... It didn't cost us a game. Sometimes being a really good team and blowing out really bad teams early in is not what is best for a team. We will grow from this and get better and still got the W. Glad we got a weak opponent to start though. We probably aren't good enough yet to make many mistakes and beat the better teams in this league. Honestly, judging by score predictions I think this is exactly what most of us expected for week 1.

and the non completion to Hamler was 100% on Hamler. A great throw by Teddy.

Well, I said they didn’t convert for a reason. While I think Hamler should have been able to reel it in, it was a good but not great throw. I think your overstating it a bit on both sides, Springy. Just my humble opinion.

Too many personal fouls on defense. Gotta clean that up if we want to contend for anything.

This agrees with my way of thinking. Every team I’ve ever been close to, whether it’s my kids or professional sports, the teams always improve as the year goes on. Our DBs, OL, will learn to play better together. They have live bullet tape to work with now. Same with the other units. The most crucial aspect of this team is health. They need to be on the plus side of team health relative to the rest of the league. If they can maintain health, our good coaches will continue to improve their team play. I believe it is as simple as that.

As an NFL WR there is no way Hamler shouldn’t make this catch. Sure, it wasn’t a perfect throw but it hit him in the hands. Not a tough catch. This one is on Hamler.

I’m pretty sure that’s what I just said. But it wasn’t a “great throw”. And clearly it was a tough catch. Running full speed and then turning halfway around? One time out of 10 what happened yesterday is going to happen.
File it under first game blues and things to work on.
I did see tougher catches yesterday.

I am disappointed in Surtain not playing any plays since he gave up the TD. All those times NY was in obvious passing downs and I saw both Jewell and Alexander Johnson..... I wanted to see Surtain get more experience.

Sorry, Pump, but gonna disagree. He had all day to grab a hot dog - put on mustard and onions - and then locate the throw.

Speaking of Hamler, are we going to see a shot deep downfield every game to him? We’ve seen it in preseason and now in the first regular season game. I hope so, sure has to give safetys something to worry about and not cheat up quite so quickly.
