he's very doughy for a professional athlete.

3 years ago he had some pics taken of him by the poolside, with a pretty pronounced gut.
2 years ago he was way overweight (for him, he's a small guy), and was put on a special diet until he got into "NHL shape"
last year he went to the KHL, and played his way down to a minute of ice-time per game, and then a healthy scratch.


so he's not Byfuglien fat, but he has a history of being out of shape alot.
also, he is the softest player in the league by a wide margin, so that plays into the 'doughy' jokes.
