Not that it really matters to any of ye how I see things
Defensively, I am not too concerned. We have to keep in mind that this is a Pelini defense, and they WILL get better. Think back to Bo's first year here, we weren't very good for the first part of the season............and then, all of a sudden, they just started playing well.......really well. It will come....
Offensively, I am concerned. Say what you want about Taylor, but I think he is the least of our worries right now. I say this because honestly Taylor is the biggest leader we have on offense, both by example, and YES vocally as well.
I watched him very closely and I saw him vocally leading the team on the field. However, go back and watch some of the greatest Husker teams of all time. Pay special attention to those offensive lines..........they talk with each other, and they played with a chip on their shoulder every single week. I'm simply not seeing that right now.
This team will go as far as the offensive line takes them. If we can open up some holes for our depth at the RB position, then all of a sudden we are a COMPLETELY different team. Because suddenly the opposing defense focuses less on shutting down Taylor, and then Taylor opens up even more as a running option. AND play action opens up big time down field.
So with that said, let's see how we bounce back against Washington this next week and go from there. We can bitch and complain all week long, but right now it is what it is. We have not much experience on the field at many positions, and we need some players to step up and lead by example and vocally.
If we are as bad as what people think we are, then we will struggle to beat Washington this week. They are no pushover folks........not even in the slightest.
I am personally thankful that we get to play some teams here in the early part of the season that aren't completely cupcakes, as it's going to help these guys grow up quickly.
So here is to our Huskers, and to watching them continue to grow.
