Lots can change but something worth (perhaps?) discussing in this huge lull that currently exists. Looking at the names, etc., there are going to be some tough cuts (barring injury).

This is very preliminary but who I see taking the field in Baltimore in just 2 and half months:

Quarterback (2)

- Andy Dalton
- Bruce Gradkowski

Running Back (4)

- BenJarvus Green-Ellis
- Brian Leonard
- Bernard Scott
- Cedric Peerman

Fullback (1)

- Chris Pressley

Wide Receiver (6)

- A.J. Green
- Armon Binns
- Jordan Shipley
- Mohamed Sanu
- Andrew Hawkins
- Marvin Jones

Tight End (3)

- Jermaine Gresham
- Donald Lee
- Orson Charles

Offensive Line (9)

- Andrew Whitworth
- Kevin Zeitler
- Kyle Cook
- Travelle Wharton
- Andre Smith
- Clint Boling
- Denis Roland
- Anthony Collins
- Otis Hudson

Defensive Line (8)

- Domato Peko
- Geno Atkins
- Robert Geathers
- Michael Johnson
- Devon Still
- Carlos Dunlap
- Brandon Thompson
- Jamaal Anderson

Linebackers (6)

- Rey Maualuga
- Manny Lawson
- Thomas Howard
- Roddrick Muckleroy
- Dan Skuta
- Vincent Rey

Defensive Backs (10)

- Leon Hall
- Nate Clements
- Dre Kirkpatrick
- Reggie Nelson
- Taylor Mays
- Jason Allen
- Terrence Newman
- George Iloka
- Robert Sands
- Brandon Ghee

Specialists (3)

- Mike Nugent
- Kevin Huber
- Clark Harris

Practice Squad (8)

- Shaun Prater
- Boom Herron
- DeQuin Evans
- Trevor Robinson
- Vontaze Burficit
- Kasif Moore
- Matthew O'Donnell
- Emmanuel Lamur

Suspended (first 4 games)

- Dontay Moch

Notable cuts

- Adam Jones
- Brandon Tate
- Derrick Harvey
- Pat Sims
- Jeromy Miles
- Colin Cochart
- Ryan Whalen

Again...this is a very early projection for the opening 53. Also, not sure who is going to return punts (Shipley?, Hawkins?) considering I cut two of the main candidates. Almost kept Pacman over Ghee but decided to keep the latter for now...who would probably be an inactive on game day.

Just something to chew on.

They aren't keeping Ghee over Jones. Not a single chance.

Good work.... Here are my thoughts.

--- Can you really keep both Baby Hawk and Jordan Shipley? They are both slot specialists and will likely never be on the field at the same time. I suppose you could if Baby Hawk were your return specialist, but he hasn't done this at the pro level.

--- If you cut both Tate and Pacman and Baby Hawk isn't a returner, than who is? Marvin Jones? He'd be a nice candidate, but he also might end up as the 2nd or 3rd best receiving option on this team. Hell, judging by the opinions of the 'draft experts' around here, he might be an all-pro. Point being, if he's a productive receiver you won't want to expose him to hits as a returner.

--- Defensive line looks light. Not many noted run stoppers in that list. I'm tempted to keep Pat Sims for this reason.

--- I wonder if we could really hide Prater on the PS.

I think Burfict makes it in favor or Vincent Rey also Jones makes it over Ghee...Sims probably makes it as well and we keep 9 dont know who goes in place of him....do we keep 3 QB's?

There will be some interesting decisions. I think Jones makes it over Ghee as well.

I personally believe that the following players you had on practice squad or cut will make the team.....

Prater, Burfict, Jones, Sims

Guys getting cut or replacing them on practice squad...

Newman, Rey, Ghee, Anderson

Of course this is subject to change depending on injuries during training camp and preseason.

I also have to agree that I see Simms, Burfict and Jones all making this roster, but like the OP said, it's early. Who knows what will play out when the pads come on, and of course injuries.

Dan Herron will obviously make the team.

someone already said practice squad for Herron.

I think the thing with Herron was he missed playing time for some reason so he's sort of an unknown? I would think he could beat out B. Scott, and would hope to God he can run better than Peerman who is really there for special teams. Someone will get injured, and he'll get his chance I guess.

He's not beating out B.Scott. He's not nearly as fast or shifty.

Herron is more of a GL RB that can pound it.

Unless he can show some special teams ability, he'll be on the PS or looking for work.

B. Scott hasn't been fast or shifty in years.
so Herron must be somewhere between a snail and a turtle.

For what it's worth:

B.Scott ran the 40 in 4.44
D.Herron ran it in 4.66

B.Scott had a fast time of 4.37
D.Herron had a fast time of 4.53

He's a different kind of RB than Scott is all I was saying. He is a bit slow, he's not going to break big runs, but he's tough between the tackles.

Peerman ran a 4.45, and is more of a change of pace guy than Herron is...and the speed gives him a solid edge in special teams where being able to get down field quickly is a must, and something Peerman excelled at last year.

- Keeping Ghee and cutting Tate/Pacman were the two things I went back and forth on. I am buying (for now) the Hobspin on Ghee with the quotes about him "showing up" and "impressing" etc. Also, I'm factoring in Pacman's Training Camp long "muscle pull/strain" that keeps him out of action. Might be presumptuous on my part but he's got a track record. Not that Ghee is an iron man of any sort. Smart money is on Jones making it over Ghee but I went against the grain. Again, it's June and Pacman could show up to Training Camp in unbelievable shape, makin' plays, etc.

- Marvin Jones makes it (as of this month) and will, more than likely, be a gameday inactive. I might be placing too much stock in Hawkins but I am hoping that he can transition into the PR role along with his other special teams duties. Would not shock me to see it come down to him and Tate with the winner being the guy that wins the PR job in the preseason. Hawkins is really valuable as a special team player, versatile option in spread formations and would cement his roster spot by showing that he can return punts.

- Cutting Sims is based on his long term health projection and a numbers crunch. Thompson and Still are the future and Sims is on a one year deal. Remember, he hit the open market and had no (public) suitors. Smells like a lot of teams not sold on a 300+ DT coming off of a broken ankle, Bengals being one of them. I like Sims a lot...but can't keep them all.

****injuries will be the great equalizer****

bernard Scott was worthless last season, he couldn't even run to the convenient store, are these camp numbers, or old numbers?

everyone has given up on B. Scott...2012 is the last season I support him...I just want to see what he does with 2 new guards and our SMART Consultant looking over top in McNally....His pregame scouting on opponents dline to help out the running game is going to be HUGE! Scott I think bounces back...If he doesn't this year barring major injuries to him or the Oline then I will gladly jump on the bus and sit up front... :)

My Prediction??? With Ced Benson gone and I think those 2 didnt like each other...He will do better along with improved blocking....

He won't do better. He'll do worse.
