Week 6 updates

The Cowboys are sticking with Brett Maher as their kicker for now, despite him missing two more kicks on Sunday, including a 33-yarder in the fourth quarter that ended any chance of a comeback. Maher is 4 of 7 this year and hasn’t made a kicker longer than 36 yards. Both Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones have given Maher their support and pointed toward his recent history of making big kicks that gives them confidence in him.

How can they be ok with this output?

The Cowboys were able to get one defensive linemen back last week in Tyrone Crawford, who plays both end and tackle. But they should be getting one of their best run-stopping tackles back this week in Antwaun Woods, who has missed the last two games with a knee injury. Woods returned to practice last week in a limited role but should be ready to go against the Jets. The Cowboys were gashed several times last week by the Packers and Aaron Jones, who had 107 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns, the most by any Cowboys’ opponent in franchise history.

Sad really. This kicker may have a few game winning kicks,but he misses too many chip shots. Really not excusable to play with fire.

Our P had a bad day no doubt. As far as these kickers, if their last name isn’t Tucker , I’m not sure I want them. They all seem to be missing this year. The NE K missed extra points in 3 straight weeks I think. Excellent K in college right now that will be coming out after this year. Hot Rod Blankenship out of Georgia.

Interesting stat I read last night. Maher is 19 out of 29 over his past 17 games. This is not good. Around 65%.

He is 1-4 on kicks over 29 yards this year
He was 1-2 on his two playoff attempts last year (made a 39 yarder)
In December last year he was 2-5 on kicks over 29 yards

This guy needs to be replaced or at least have his cage rattled.
