I feel like there is selective overreaction to week 1 but it is what it is.

Niners secondary is a question mark. I would have them as the 4th place NFC West team currently.

Depends on what team you are talking about. Las Vegas is still all the way down at 18. They get another chance to prove themselves week 2. Gotta imagine they'd shoot up if they somehow manage to beat the Steelers too.

Honestly, I fully expected then to start 0-4 so they've already exceeded my expectations lol

Edit: so I can't read and now just noticed you said selective overreaction

I agree on the secondary but their pass rush makes up for that somewhat. Seahawks are similar to that. My concern for the Niners is they have probably the biggest question mark at the most important position. Shanahan can shop at Walmart for RBs and get 125 yds out of them but will JimmyG stay healthy or will he falter and Trey Lance play or wtf. It's a wierd situation and any little bump in the road is magnified for them.
Arizona is also a much better team than people give them credit for. They have playmakers on both sides and that defense could very well bring down the Hawks, Rams and Niners a peg or two.
Having said that though, I have no problem with keeping the Niners up there for now. Still early and they have a little more cache than Zona for now. The Cards will move up if they keep playing like they did Sunday but it's hard to penalize other teams in that div when they all won. I think Shanny learned Sunday to not let up though. Any NFL team can bite your kneecaps off if you let them up off the matt.

I think having a shaky secondary and the worst QB in the division is enough to kinda bump them down but if it weren't for those two things they'd be the best team in the division. Having a shaky secondary in a division with Russell Wilson, Matt Stafford and Kyler Murray is going to be tough, though. Moreso than for teams in other divisions. There will be games that the Niners will have to win shootouts and Im not sure thats their style.

NFC West with all 4 teams in the top 10. This could be one hell of a dog fight down the stretch.

We all know that power ranking aren't really true until about Week 4 or 5. By that time, first game jitters, adrenalin rushes and just unfamiliarity are behind every player. Week two will begin to sort the pile.

Only three teams in NFL history have started the season 0-2 and won the Super Bowl. 1993 (Cowboys), 2001 (Patriots), 2007 (Giants)

Only four others started 0-2 and made it to the Super Bowl 1996(Patriots), 1998(Jets), 2003(Eagles), 2014(Colts)

Just an FYI

This is how I feel about the AFCN as well. Even though CLE & BAL lost, they are still top 10 teams. Bengals being ranked 24th is criminal after how they performed last weekend. Easily 15-18 range IMO.

NFC West is going to be fun to watch this year too. Stafford's arrival seems to have given McVay exactly what he needed. And the Cards' defense looks nasty. FWIW I don't know if I believe in the 49ers just yet. Solid team though.

I dont know if I'd go that far with the Bengals. I think they took advantage of the Vikings not either one of their draft picks on their oline and then they got a 'fumble' in OT. Breeland does seem in freefall and the Vikings are a bit of a shambles right now but they very easily could've won that game.

I do think Id have Cinci and Minn ahead of the Panthers. I dont trust Darnold.

The Colts didn't get to the SB in 14, just fyi. They lost to NE in the AFCCG

Maybe they aren’t there yet but I think they can be. Bengals are a much better team than people give them credit for. Their defense is vastly improved.

Honestly, I think the margins between team 1 and 25 are slim at the moment. Every team in the AFC West won last week and nobody is really hyping the division up. AFC North looks really solid and possibly great. NFC West looks like they're the best division. NFC East seems mostly improved.

I'd say I'd like to see the Bengals D against an oline that is up and running but...how many of those are in the league right now? I think the Bengals D might be able to hold up. I still hate their corners but if their dline can win then that usually doesnt matter a ton. They might also have one of the best S in the league so they might get some splash plays consistently, too.

Yea we really won’t know what the top of the league looks like outside of maybe 3-4 teams, until week 4 or 5. And even then teams can still shrug off a sluggish start to go on a tear.

Bengals secondary will do well. Even subpar CBs can look good when you have an elite FS & a great supporting SS.

I haven't seen a lot of the Bengals, tbh, but it honestly looks like they're sharing a lot of the philosophies that the Chiefs are currently using. Big up front, diverse schemes in the secondary, take advantage of S play. It works really well as long as you dont run into elite offenses.

I could see Raiders, Chargers, Bills, Chiefs, and Bengals all being in that same tier. If they get consistent QB play and have at least a mediocre defense, they are in the playoffs. Chiefs and Bills are the expected teams here but that can always change.

Steelers, Broncos, Dolphins, Colts, and Patriots all seem like they're in a similar boat. If they put it together then you won't want to face them in the playoffs but I think those teams have bigger questions at QB. I think the difference with this tier is that there isnt an expected team.

Did you mean Browns in that tier with the Bills, Chiefs, etc. Clayton or did you just forget about them?

I find the anomalies interesting.

Denver comes in at 17, but was voted as high as 9 and low as 26, which are both larger than standard variations (+8, and -9 from the average). So it appears even a panel of "experts" cannot agree on how good they will be.

Any thoughts on this? Is Denver closer to 9, 17, or 26?

I think 17 is about right. Good defense. OK offense.

That is a pretty wide spread but I think that mid range is pretty close. They are in tough with the Chiefs, Chargers and Raiders in that division. Really good defense, solid but not spectacular QB play and some weapons but I'm not sold on Fangio being a HC. I could be wrong though. They could be a dark horse WC team.

I have them in the low 20s. I would go higher but I think their division might beat them up.
I just wonder how anyone can see them as a #9 or a #26 team in the league right now. I find it a bit baffling.
