Game Thread: Week 19: Nobody @ Seahawks (Wild Card Discussion)

Okay couldn't help myself.

I figured we can use this for Wild Card though to discuss how the NFC teams are looking and who we may want to face, or relevant injuries. I know there is posts on the General forum, but this forum always has specific convo on games that impact us that the rest of the forum prob. doesn't care about lol.

In other good news although I don't think anyone is surprised. Cross returned to practice (and now armed with a new contract) and Bryant is expected to be back as well. So we should be rested and absolutely 100% full strength outside of Horton/Arroyo (which is not new).

Do you think they can hang on to Charbonnet for next season or will Charbonnet want to go where he can be the featured back? Charbonnet is making $1.6 mill in the last year of his rookie contract. He can probably make at least $9 mill a year if he goes somewhere else. I doubt if he will make that much if he stays in Seattle.

Well Charbs will definitely be here next year. Remains to be seen if Ken Walker will be. If we win the Super Bowl on the backs of the running game, I suspect he'll get paid by some other team.

I want them to face Carolina and Green Bay.
I think they will face San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Seattle appears to be heavily investing in the OL. They've already given large contracts to Lucas, Cross, and drafted a guard in the top 20... and were active in free agency for OL they just never found one at a reasonable price or that fit the scheme. I mean look at Minny - they went full failure mode giving out an insane deal to Fries (who SHOCKER, didn't have a great season - he had ONE before and injury issues lol). Then you have a Woolen/Bryant/Mafe decision, Witherspoon/JSN are coming up, etc.

ALSO, Schneider has been willing to spend higher picks on runningbacks in the past. Not only Walker, but Charbs, and Penny as well. Sadly Penny was derailed by injuries because when he was healthy he was actually coming into his own pretty nicely (when healthy he was well over a 5 yard average).

I think MacDonald 'HOPES' K9 will stay because he and the team very much like K9, but I don't see it happening. Seattle has been pretty active grabbing RBs in later rounds/UDFA and if you have a decent OL you can work with a lot. Sure a talent like CMAC/Barkley (if healthy) can explode you to the next level, but sorry - K9 is not that RB. He's a 200 carry a year guy similar to Gibbs - and sorry but Gibbs is a FAR better threat. Has a place, but not one for a large contract that makes it difficult to maneuver out of.

I think Seattle will offer like a 2 year $15M deal with a $7M signing bonus, so easy to move on after 2026... if some team is going to give him some 4 year $40M deal? Let him walk. Even with a shorter/lower deal, I think they walk. While Mac likes K9 he has made slight comments on availability and injury. Charbs has 12 TDs, K9 has 5. I mean... frankly I think one has to go. Seattle just can't afford to spend that much at that position to only split carries. If both K9/Charbs are happy being a split carry RB tandem - great. Keep both, and sign them accordingly to deals like I quoted above. $10-15M a year COMBINED on two GOOD runningbacks is fine. Not $15M+ locked into the RB position in the form of two runningbacks that are good but neither has proven ELITE (take over games like CMAC/Taylor/Barkley, etc.)

I'd say 85% chance he's gone, 15% chance he stays. If Seattle gives him some 4 year $40M contract (unless it's ZERO guaranteed) that's a disaster.

I think the Bears and Eagles games are toss ups. I would be shocked if the Rams don't cover easily.

Sounds right and that would leave the Seahawks playing the Rams.

Worst outcome (because I think the Rams are the hardest) but I think that's what is going to happen as well.

I want to be wrong. Packers in round one would be ideal, followed by 9ers or eagles in the nfccg.
Don't want to play the rams again but if we do id rather it be their third road playoff game and not their second

48ners over eagle's.. don't trust eagle's. Forget when but they won a game.. and wr was complaining about lack of use... winning cures all.. once that happened nope I'm out on them.

I think the packers 100% can beat the Bears. I wouldn't be shocked at all if they did so and they are the favorite not the underdog even being on the road.

The Pack beat the bears then in the 2nd game when Love got hurt the Bears made a 4th Quarter come from behind victory after being down 13-3. Packers should beat the Bears but who really knows.

I think Hawks get Packers and Rams/49ers play each other if the 49ers get past the Eagles. The 49ers had been hot but also had played some weak teams. The Eagles defense is no joke so if they show up the 49ers will be in a battle. This one for me is a toss-up. Still the Hawks have to win their first game to even worry about who we get next. I do not care WHO the Seahawks get in the conference championship just as long as they get there lol.


This one is kind of out there but if the Panthers BEAT the Rams i would only be mildly shocked. Styles make games and the Panthers gave the Rams Fits. Rams lost 2 out of last 3.

Yah, but I'll be rooting for the Panthers as hard as possible... and every home team for that matter. That locks us in to the Panthers for the divisional.
