Seems kind of redundant considering the current state of the Steelers' season. Tomlin said they would be judged on how they rebound but IMHO that's not true. They could blow out the Browns 50-0, but if the Jets win its meaningless. They failed again against a terrible opponent. They continuously show they can be good in the face of adversity, but cannot handle being great. It's a shame!
If the Jets lose and Steelers win, then they get a second chance and can rewrite the script. If not this season will be remembered by one game – week 16 against the Ravens.
But I think its all about context... If you were told at the beginning of the year that this team would win 10 games, would you have considered that a good year? Most years that is a playoff team, but unfortunately not this year. Alternatively, if you reverse the season and put the loss to the Ravens at the beginning of the year and Ben’s injury at the end. Is it still as painful? The problem is in our expectations. For a brief period of time it seemed like the Steelers were shoe-ins for the playoffs and likely SB contender. That makes their possible dismissal all the more hurtful. Still, I haven’t given up, and even if things don’t work out this weekend, there is always next year.
It's a faint glimmer of hope, but that's better than no hope at all, right?
Go Steelers!
