It drives ne crazy too but from what I have heard, it supposedly reduces the risk of shoulder injuries. Sometimes though, it is used when a wrap up tackle is right there for the taking and it is annoying. Especially when they have someone stopped in the backfield for a loss and they bounce off the guy only to see him get 3-4 positive yards when they could put a team behind the sticks. The other thing about it is they usually have to take their eyes off the ball carrier for a second. Good backs see tgat and often anticipate the hit so juke just at the right time and there is a whiff or only half contact.Honestly there is one thing that irritates me more than anything, and that is the lack of tackling. The art of wrapping up and actually tackling is something that I've missed for a long time. I'm beginning to wonder if the coaches are teaching guys to just throw a shoulder at a ball carrier and hope they knock them over, instead of actually wrapping their arms around them and putting them on the ground. The high hits where the runner still has their legs to drive forward is another thing that drives me nuts...why do they constantly give runners an extra 2 to 5 yards with this nonsense? I just don't understand...
I believe it's a combination of the SportsCenter effect and the damn near lethal helmets and shoulder pads that give these defenders a sense that they are invincible. Piss poor tackling technique is an epidemic in the NFL.It drives ne crazy too but from what I have heard, it supposedly reduces the risk of shoulder injuries. Of course, having said all that, maybe it's just the ESPN Sportscenter hilite effect and they all want to get on TV. I don't know.

Yeah, I saw that. He is really a bad coach at times. That had no chance.Zimmer pisses away a challenge with 9 minutes to go in the 1st quarter.
