These are the playoff-relevant games this week:

Denver (9-3) vs Oakland (3-9) Broncos have clinched the (weak) AFC West, and are playing for home field. The Pats and Ravens are also at 9-3.

Dallas(6-6) vs Cincinnati (7-5). The Bengals are currently in a tie with the Steelers for 2nd in the AFC North. Colts are sitting at 8-4, so there is a race there for the wild-card berths between these three teams. The Jets and Buffalo are at 5-7. Dallas is a game out of both the division lead and the 2nd wildcard spot.

The Boys are at (6-6). With Chicago and Green Bay at 8-4, and Seattle at 7-5, a loss here would come close to ending any playoff hopes for Dallas. (depends on what the Giants do).

Tennessee (4-8) vs. Indianapolis (8-4). The Titans have no big calls to make until the draft, but Indy is on top in the AFC wildcard race (see above). If they're going to make the playoffs, they need to win games like this.

Chicago (8-4) vs Minnesota (6-6). The Bears are tied for first with the pack, and are one-game ahead of the top competitor for the NFC wildcards (Seattle). Two weeks ago, they beat the Vikes, who look to be in a must-win here, too.

Philadelphia (3-9) vs Tampa Bay (6-6). Philly is done for the year, but the Bucs are hanging in the wildcard race with Dallas (6-6), Seattle (7-5), Minnesota (6-6) and a host of 5-win longshots (Rams, Saints, Skins).

Baltimore (9-3) vs Washington (6-6). Ravens are 2 games up in the AFC North with 2 games to go. Redskins are coming off a huge win over the Giants to pull within a game of the Giants.

Atlanta vs Carolina (3-9). Panthers are positioning for the draft (hopefully for O-linemen) and (I assume) preparing for the post-Rivera era. The Falcons have clinched the NFC South, and need 2 out of 4 to take homefield throughout the playoffs. Falcons had a miraculous drive to win the last game, btw. This one could see an upset if ATL comes in flat.

San Diego (4-8) vs Pittsburgh (7-4). Stillers are coming off a big win over the Ravens to stay in the hunt. They're 2 games behind the Ravens in the division, and currently tied with the Bengals for the 2nd wildcard slot. The only mystery with San Diego is if they'll be Norv-less next season.

Miami (5-7) vs San Francisco (8-3-1). Pats have clinched the East, and the Dolphins would need to run the table, and have some other miracle occur to make a wildcard. Niners 1.5 games up (I guess, with tie factored in) on the Seahawks (7-5). Miami/Seattle wins could ratchet up the drama a little bit.

Arizona (4-8) vs Seattle (7-5). Cards are out - for Seattle, see previous game, and note that right now they would have the 2nd wildcard slot.

New Orleans (5-7) vs NY Giants (7-5). Saints are 2 games behind the Seahawks for the 2nd wildcard slot, would probably have to win out and get a lot of help. The Giants loss to Washington leaves them with a 1-game lead in the NFC East.

Detroit (4-8) vs Green Bay. The Lions, no longer seen as ascendant, have lost 4 in a row, and are (for all practical purposes) out. The Pack (8-4) is tied for the NFC North lead, but a couple of losses could put there playoff hopes in doubt.

Houston (11-1) vs New England (9-3). Both have clinched their division, and are playing for home field. On paper, that sounds great. In reality, you wonder if they come in flat.

(Just thinking aloud...)

I love looking at the playoff jostling this time of year. A Minnesota win and a Seahawks loss don't seem probable but, if they were to occur, would most definitely make things interesting. Minnesota would then be a game behind Chicago with a slightly better division record (for now). Minnesota has a tougher schedule ahead then the Bears, however. The Cowboys/Bengals game looks intriguing, considering their respective position in the wc races. Love seeing a meaningful late-season Ravens/Redskins matchup.

Yeah, Boys-Bungles is an unexpectedly important game, especially with the Giants losing Monday. A lot can happen, starting Sunday.
