Early line has the Bears at -3.5 points. The 2-7 Giants are somewhat of a head-scratching team. They beat teams they probably shouldn't and lose to teams they should. There's definitely some talent on this squad led by a solid 3-4 defense. While their offense won't scare the bajeebus out of anyone, ever since they inserted rookie Jaxson Dart at QB, it's become more consistent. However, with the loss of bull rusher Cam Skattebo, the running game will take a hit. And they're already missing for the season their top WR, Malik Nabers.

Bottom line, this is a game we should win, and if we're holding onto any hopes about making the post season, make it a must win. The back half of our schedule is fugly, so we need to rack em up when the opportunity presents itself.

I keep hearing people say that the back half of our schedule is hard. Besides going to Philly, where?

IMO, we should absolutely beat Minnesota and Pittsburgh. Two teams who have been downright poor recently until weirdly playing over their heads this past Sunday.

Green Bay has looked awful outside of one half vs Pittsburgh.

Cleveland sucks.

Niners have Jiddy ready to sign a contract to play linebacker for them. That's how banged up they are.

Lions the last week is hard, but who even knows what that game means to them (or us). They also have plenty of issues and historically we've been good against them at home.

Anyways...

Zero excuses this week. My challenge this week to this team? When you have your foot on their throat? FINISH IT.

Pretty much EVERY game we've won this year AND the Minnesota game. We pretty much controlled the entire time, but just allowed the opposition to hang around and creep back into the game.

Get a lead early, control the game, execute in the red zone, force the rookie to make a couple of mistakes, keep running the damn football, and make sure this game is all but done with by the time we reach the 4th quarter.

Supposed to getting nice and wintry by the lakefront this weekend and this team is built for it.

Ground and ******* pound.

No more Mr. Nice Guy this week. I'm not playing any jinx or reverse jinx horse shit.

Bears 31
Giants 16

Take that next step. DOMINATE.

Winnable. Like the Bear's chances. Uncertain they will be able to run effectively against the Giant's front 7.

If the Giants still had Skattebo, I would be nervous.... But without him, not so much. That doesn't mean I think this is a walk for the Bears, but they are more beatable.

If Loveland continues to develop in the offense, Monangai/Swift has another 100 yards, and Williams looks pretty good......
I really like our chances......

Need a great game from our o-line,cause that d-line of theirs can get after that qb.
That run defense not so much.....they are 31st vs the run at an average of 150 yds per game.....

I like our chances. I think this o-line is shaping up to be the best unit we've had in a looong time.

The Giants are 31st against the run in terms of opponent rush yards per game (150.0)

The Giants are 32nd against the run in terms of opponent rush yards per carry (5.5)

I was confused by your statement. So, I looked it up. Yeah, the Giants are even worse than Cincinnati in terms of rush defense. They're the worst in the league, probably. Based on what I'm looking at it.

Especially this could be a snow game? Boy... we'd better run this damn thing 40+ times.

JJ McCarthy played his first ever NFL game against us. Then we played against Dak and Goff. Next a regressing Geno Smith. Then a banged up Daniels. A Rattler/Shough tag team of mediocrity. A 3rd-string Tyler Huntley. And then the 40 year-old immobile statue Flacco.

We should have 5 wins against this lineup!! More actually. Now on the docket is 6-game rookie starter Dart.

While I am happy to see the defense get the takeaways, I am a little disappointed in our Dennis Allen led defense (for points mentioned above and in the Cincy game thread).

We are not great up front, and have been decimated at the CB position.

I didn't care for his playcalling late against Cincy. It's one thing to not go "prevent" per se, it's quite another thing to let WRs get behind ya multiple times in 2 min drills.

The Falcons have nearly the worst defense in the league. Yet they lead the league in blitz percentage. They are terrible but they have more sacks and have more QB-hurries than the Bears.

With the opponents we faced - and in particular the QB, i would've thought Allen would have made things a little more difficult for them. Especially since the offense seems to be doing its part in moving the chains.

I agree, I think Allen has to get a little more aggressive. I caught the Vikings-Lions game on the NFL channel last night. I was impressed by the Vikings aggressiveness. I know they're a team who generally likes to blitz a lot and in this case it was successful for the most part. The Lions offense seemed to be thrown off its game plan on a number of series.

In their defense (no pun intended), when the D has gotten glimpses of health? They've shown flashes. They were decently healthy week 1 vs Minnesota and played solid game until the very end. They were basically healthy (with the exception of JJ and Booker) vs NO and played their best game of the season. We've been a lot better against the run. I'm hoping Booker gives our pass rush a boost and praying to God we somehow get Gordon/JJ back as soon as is possible. I realize it won't be even possible until December with JJ.

The one game Gordon played vs the Saints. His blitzing ability really shined in Allen's system.

Well then, what did I hear? >mutters<

Yes, with Monangai starting again, this is great news.

Can't say Monangai is the steal of the total draft. There might be other late rounders playing as well or even better on some other teams. I have no idea. But he's definitely the steal of our draft, no doubt about that.

I don’t think getting a serviceable running back who probably won’t last long enough health wise for a second contract is a terribly unrealistic in the 7th round. I think he’s more likely to be a stop gap while we look for our version of Gibbs.

I think Ben wants a two horse stable and Monongai is one of the two. Swift is the place holder, IMO. I think we take the out on Swift after this season and he's gone.

If Monongai's running really is just the product of a weak schedule? Fine, maybe this changes. Right now, though? His advanced numbers aren't just the best on this team. They're the best in the NFL.

Seemingly, Monongai can do everything. Including, pass pro. Which Matt Forte praised him for in an interview about the game Sunday.

My concern isn’t his talent, it’s his size. I don’t think he lasts.

The double reason he didn't land until the 7th round was his lack of speed and his size. But if you notice, he may not be all that large, but he's built like a mini Sherman. And as far as how fast he is or isn't, there's speed, then there's quickness. Monangai is the latter. He hits the holes quickly and his cuts could make a barber jealous. He reminds me of a slightly less bulky Ray Rice, sans the girlfriend beating.

He did a great rendition of Montgomery though. I watched him push piles, run through a LBer to fall forward, some nice open field cutting, made a few DB's look foolish. In fact, I question the Offensive Player of the Week going to Loveland with Monongai rushing for 174 plus 22 yards in receiving. Yeesh, what does a guy have to do???

Monangai probably doesn't have Montgomery's sheer strength and push, but he's quicker and much shiftier. That LCG is a huge plus when it comes to busting moves.
