Season is FINALLY here!!!

I got PSU in a rout 45-13

Trace and Miles have big games, Franklin calls off dogs in 4th and sean Clifford gets some snaps (think Tommy sits out to rest his ankle)

Defense is doing good, coverage teams need alot of work, and the offensive line frankly is looking bad.

This team has major issues to work out. Win or lose, we have issues. I do not see us competing for the division title let alone Big Ten or Playoffs this year.

Welp they dodged a bullet there

agree with @AlistairChiss
They need to clean a lot of shit up

Despite the interception at the end there I have no confidence in the defense

D looked fine until the 4th quarter.

O didn't show up until the 2nd half.

Special teams was just awful.

Several things, the offense is fine. They played a pretty vanilla game yesterday and put up 45 points. Ran ball very well, RB's averaged over 5 per carry and we actually ran effectively between the tackles. We had abysmal blocking on the outside from WR, we over rotated, which was by plan to get guys into a game they figured we could win without much issue. Trace was Trace and thank god for that. We pulled away for a 2 TD lead, seemed to relax on D and that B had an out of body experience for 15 minutes. Will be a lesson learned.

D needs to clean up tackling, linebackers need to be better dropping into coverage, we NEED Givens back at DT in a big way, safeties need to be more consistent on angles, but for the good on D. Micah is for real, he will be a monster by seasons end. Still needs the reps because he was out of position a few times, but he recovered with his athletic ability...similiar to another #11 in the late 90's. TCF was very good, he needs to be in more. Much like offense, they seemed to have a very scripted rotation and stuck to it even when things got tight late. Think we see much less of that going forward.

All in all, we beat a team who is pretty damn good despite their personnel losses, are actually ranked higher than Pitt, we hung on despite playing a horrible 4th on D and several special teams gaffes. This team has all the talent to do big things, need to get the right guys in and playing the most minutes. The D is green and just needs the reps and proper people on field. Simmons and Givens will really help the DL, not a hueg fan of Johnson at MLB, he is solid but his lack of athleticism will hurt us against the OSU's of the world. Micah needs more time on field, Luketa needs reps at MLB, hoping Wade takes the safety job opposite scott and our top 4 corners in rotation end up Reid, Amani, TCF and Johnson (he had a very nice game as wel)

Manny Bowen watched the game and will be back next week to fix the LB position then the following week he retires again.

LOL, with that kid, who knows. LBs had same problem as rest of D, finish tackles. Looks like Simmons/Givens should be back. That will be huge boost up front

There last tackle we should have tackled him 10yds from the goalline but couldn’t wrap up and he scored

Think that may have been by design. He doesn't score there, we lose....similar to Iowa last year. That said, at least 5 other drives are stopped earlier with solid tackling, including a couple scoring drives. Special teams tackling on that KO return TD was abysmal as well.
