Coming out of college, most assumed Reggie Bush would have been the No. 1 pick after a dynamite college career. The Houston Texans decided differently and went with Mario Williams.

It can certainly be said the Williams had quite the career, better than Bush. But Williams never played in a Super Bowl, let alone won one. And of course, the ultimate goal of football is to win the Super Bowl.

Reggie Bush, though not really living up to the hype of a top pick, was a key piece of a SB winning offense. Bush may not have been worth the 1st overall pick in the end, but I'm sure the Saints are still glad the Texans passed on what would become an important piece for Drew Brees in their SB victory.

So what say you? Were the Texans wrong for having passed on Bush? Did the Saints make the right decision? If Nawlins had also decided to skip Bush, would they still have won Super Bowl 44?

bad pick, didnt have a 3 down back body. 1-2 really good seasons (2013, rushing and receiving. maybe add 2011).

11 games of 100+ yards rushing. 11.

So, what did he really do to win them the SB again? :noidea:

Not a whole lot, but he was part of that SB winning offense.

People outside the Houston market never understood the hometown fans hatred for Mario Williams.

Houston fans weren't upset that Bush wasn't taken.

They were downright pissed the fuck off that local hero Vince Young wasn't the number one pick.

And Mario Williams would never win that fan base over simply because he wasn't Vince Young.

41 yards in the championship game. And a lost fumble.

Yeah this dude fucking sucked as a pro. Before the draft and after.

Yeah, I didn't see him do much of anything that year other than go off against Arizona, which the saints were going to win that regardless.

I wouldn't say he was a total bust. Sure, he won't be going to Canton, but I would say he wasn't bad either.

He had a few 1,000 yard rushing seasons. I know, 1,000 in the NFL is only 63 yards per game during regular season. But it still is a good # to have. His time at Miami and Detroit were good years. He was also good at receiving.

He was good at punt returning

There have been a lot worse number 2 overall picks than Reggie Bush.

Considering how weak that draft class was... Yes he was worth it.

I recall debating RB with a coworker who thought Reggie Bush was the second coming of Eric Dickerson and Walter Payton. Never thought he would be good. I don't recall how the other top 5 picks turned out but Reggie Bush never lived up to the number 2 pick in the draft. He wasn't that good and not an all down back.

Yeah, that's how you have to look at it.

Mario Williams went #1 and a very nice career. 5 double digit sack seasons but after that...it basically sucked.

Vince Young
D-Brickashaw Ferguson
A.J. Hawk (pretty solid starter but not special)
Vernon Davis (2x PB and very solid athletic freak but a TE at 2?)
Michael Huff
Donte Whitner
Ernie Sims
Matt Leinart
Jay Cutler
Haloti Hgata --- easily the BEST in this class at #12
Kamerion Wimbley
Brodrick Bunkley
Tye Hill
Jason Hall
Chad Greenway
Bobby Carpenter

This draft class sucked.

That was a bad draft class. Didn't realize how bad it was.

the answer is no.
He isnt worth a #2 pick.
Weak draft class doesnt change the question.
Just mean most of the picks would have been a no.

Would the Saints win a superbowl without Bush. Answer is yes.
Bush was basically a part time player realistically.
