ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward will miss three to four weeks because of a lower-body injury that forced him out of the game at Minnesota just minutes after the faceoff.
Ward was replaced by Justin Peters 4:07 in after skating off the ice Thursday night. The Hurricanes announced in the second period the timetable for Ward's absence, without specifying the nature of his injury.
Ward was placed on injured reserve Friday while the team also recalled goalie Mike Murphy from the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL. Peters was an AHL call-up, too, 10 days earlier after goalie Anton Khudobin sustained a lower-body injury.
Ward started eight of Carolina's first 10 games.
Murphy has played in two career NHL games.
Josh Harding, who started for the Wild in their 3-1 win, was pulled at the second intermission because of a lower-body injury. The team had no update on his condition.
The NHL's Masterton Award winner for perseverance and dedication for overcoming multiple sclerosis last season and playing an entire playoff series for the Wild, Harding entered the night with the second-best goals-against average in the NHL at 0.96. He stopped 20 of 21 shots before leaving.

Tough break for the Canes, Ward is a solid goalie.
