It would certainly be nice to see him fulfill all three years of his contract. It's hard to see that contract being tradeable really at any point. It's also difficult to picture Paul giving up any of the money he himself negotiated for as PA president.

CP3's options are really limited at this point. He's going to have little say in where he goes because his contract is just too huge of a cap figure to go to contenders. I doubt (and I certainly wouldn't) he takes a paycut for any reason, at least not in the next two years. That final year, maybe he just decides he wants to ring chase and asks for a buy-out. But until then he's going to have to just play with the cards that are dealt to him.

Mavs/Thunder nationally televised tonight. Maybe we'll get to see Paul in action tonight, though at his age and with it still being preseason you just never know for sure...

He will be traded this year.

How?

He doesn't have an expiring contract and he's going to be making an average of $40m each year over the next three seasons. Plus the guy is 34 and has missed almost 50 games the last couple of seasons.

It'll be almost impossible for OKC to offload him without him taking a pay cut.

I know this is the conventional thought, but I just think he will be moved in December. Adams playing great tonight.

Don't get me wrong - he still has tremendous value.

I'd love to have him on the Lakers. Just not for that contract.

I just think with the way money is thrown around and how competitive things are that a big team will have an injury and make a move for him.

But the injured players contract doesn't come off the books and the money has to match or come close.

No contender is going to have the cap space without giving up a lot of what makes them contenders.

I think the best chance might be a team that performs better than expected, finds themselves in the playoff hunt and thinks he might get them there.

But even then, they'd still have to have a fairly low payroll or they'd be looking at having to give up too much too.

CP hit a couple nice threes in the first and made a nice backward bounce pass to Schroder for a three in the second, but your defense might struggle a little bit when employing that three-point guard lineup, especially considering Luka and Kristaps didn't play tonight...

Obviously Kyrie is better today.

Kyrie not better than prime CP3.

Yes he is

You think Chris Paul prime could have outclassed Curry in a finals lol

I am positive Kyrie never gets there as the best player in his team. As Chris Paul was until he landed in Houston.

But yeah, actually prime CP3 eats a hobbled Curry for breakfast.

First you think Kyrie is better than Curry.

Now you think he is better than prime CP3?

Kyrie Irving individual accolades:

6 time all star - 1 all star MVP
1 2nd team all NBA
1 3rd team all NBA
Rookie of the year

Chris Paul individual accolades:

9 time all star - 1 all star MVP
4 first team all NbA
3 2nd team all NBA
1 3rd team all NBA
7 1st team all defense
2 2nd team all defense
4 time assist leader
6 time steal leader
Rookie of the year

But sure. Let’s pretend Kyrie is better because he is better in 1 statistical category and because he played caddy to LeBron on a championship run.
