Out for year according to espn. Ouch, first the Pujols drama and now this. We'll find out how strong the Cardinals clubhouse is.
Probably stronger than their rotation now. I don't think the Pujols stuff will be much of a distraction during the season. That's why he set up the deadline for negotiations, and I think that is a really smart thing to do. Think Suppan could fetch a decent prospect with some speed and a good glove up the middle of the diamond?
No, but Sanchez could probably fetch us something good. Jesus Montero of the Yankees, Colby Rasmus of the Cardinals, Grady Sizemore just to name a few. I know we've been over this, but if we could find a decent 5th starter to take over, I would seriously consider trading Sanchez to a desperate team, as they may overpay. IMO, Sanchez is the most likely starter not to be on our staff by the time we need to start opening the check book on these guys and his value is at an all time high.
Sounds like Dan Runzler better take his shot at starting pretty seriously. Suppan might work out for a year. I'm not exactly in favor of trading Durty, but you're right, he is the best trade chip with a chance at equal or greater value. If it's financially feasible, I would really like to see the Lincecum-MadBum-Cain-Sanchez-Wheeler rotation someday, though. And then see it every year for a decade.![]()
Oh I completely agree. Get all those guys on one staff, all home grown, all locked up would be amazing. I not saying we should trade Chez, but if a deal comes up where we'd be on the good side of an overpay, I'd be hard to turn down.
