i like this animation as it shows Bobby Hooking up and locking onto Kittle Jones turning and running with his man and Adams Dropping his man to cover ... no one as Kittle is being followed by Bobby.

Say all you want you will NEVER convince me not in a million years this was not Adams fault or 100% bad play design. As far as safeties running with wideouts, yes in the Hawks Defense this happens often. Adams has been Burned on this same play before when he has tried to flip and run and it was against the 49ers last year. No doubt they had this in here for him.
Watch S-Blair in your animation. He moves up to take the Cover-3 zone handoff of Aiyuk from Jones, but Jones doesn't disengage, which leads to a double team on Aiyuk and no one covering Deebo. The ONLY criticism I have at all for Adams on the play is that he should have floated back-middle farther in his own zone but that was irrelevant to the outcome, and would not have covered for Jones' mistake.

Yes, there was no one in Adams area when all is said and done but that is how a zone "works". There was also at no point anyone in Brooks' area on the left side but that doesn't suddenly mean he was out of postion or blowing a coverage. In fact it would have technically been a mistake in the coverage scheme if either Adams or Brooks had left their zones.
You can blame the scheme, and the coaching staff for the situation. You can also blame Jones for missing his assignment but I don't hold him too accountable being his short time with the team. But blaming Adams is laughable. He literally did everything he was supposed to within the confines of the Cover-3 scheme.

I still blame Blair and ain't no one going to convince me otherwise.

Why blame Adams because he is in ZONE AND CALLS OUT SAMUELS TO OTHERS.

Jones is following his guy. As expected.

Blair is goes into zone is like what to I do cuz thus he moves into Jones territory INSTEAD OF BACKING HIS ASS UP and play the deep ball.

Also if you watch the animation screaming posted. Why didn't Brooks try to make the TD saving tackle?

That is ridiculous. Blaming Adams for being the closest defender when Jones completely deserted his zone area is just wrong. Even your animation specifically shows Jones' glaring error.

So I guess that you are correct, and Pete Carroll is wrong?!? Should we take your view over multiple professional sources including the Head Coach?

The left side of the offense with no Wide outs is in fact a zone that is because there is NO PLAYER on the line outside the TE for your CB to guard. Now he drops into a zone and track the HB/FB to that side, If it's a full zone on the right side then Deebo ran right through Adams zone and why is Bobby FOLLOWING and LOCK ONTO Kittle? In the game footage you see bobby Turn and RUN with kittle and Only Drops off when Kittle Stops his route. Blair then Crashes hard on the deep in when he should be dropping to the deep middle "if it's a zone". You guys do know you can have zone on one side and man to man on the other do you not? This was a single high safety in a 5-2-4 lineup with Adams taking the slot receiver ( common for Safety's to cover the slot) Had it been zone and this play is called the 15 yard deep in is WIDE open as you basically got Adams once again COVERING NO ONE and being posted in a unused and empty zone with no one uncovered heading to it.

In this "2 man game" at WR if the WR run a crossing rout meaning the outside guy goes hard inside and the inside guy loops behind to the outside in a wheel route then you switch off, this has always been signaled by a arm out and closed fist ever since Pete got here. Thing is this was not a quick crosser. Jones outside man runs down the field looking like he is running a fly if he drops off then Jones man has a 79 yard TD. Nope the right design is to take this two man route and play man to man on your side with the back end playing JUST like they did 100% but with Blair dropping for deep help not crashing in on the deep in. Safety ( Blair ) has to be deeper than deepest man in a zone. The fact he did not react like it was a zone tells me two things One it was not a zone and two Adams read it wrong.

Adams is horrible in pass coverage this is NOTHING new and was burned by the 49ers last season on this same play.

Bobby does NOT follow Kittle. Bobby turns his hips and takes two steps after the play fake, once he reaches his zone he starts backpedalling to get depth. The throw happens after two backpedal steps. and he then turns to track the play. He does not appear to be looking to follow Kittle anywhere.

If Bobby DOES follow Kittle, as you assume, so Adams can track Samuel, and Blair leaves his middle third to cover Jones' third, forcing Brooks to take Blair's middle third, you've just vacated the entire middle of the field hash to hash, LOS to 15 yards deep. THAT would be a horrible play design.

So just to be clear: you prefer to stick by your guns instead of listening to:
*Jordan Babineaux, a former NFL Safety for 5 years and Seahawks broadcast analysis who broke down exactly how and why it was Jones' mistake.
*The likes of many long term professional beat writers from reputable sources such as Condatto, Alexander, Bevens, Henderson who also specifically stated without question that it was Jones' broken coverage.
*Seahawks' Head Coach Pete Carroll who did acknowledge the error specifically while discussing Jones' performance.

*Sidney Jones himself said he has to communicate better and clean it up when specifically asked about the play.

*The graphic that YOU posted which showed the Cover-3 execution and Jones' mistake. Jones followed Aiyuk when he should have handed off the Blair, and accepted the hand off of Deebo from the zone in front of him.

20211004_112024.jpg
There are lots of variations within the Cover-3, but the standard that the Seahawks run is shown above. The SS plays up in the front right zone, the CB drops back. On the other side the LB steps into the front zone, which in this case was Brooks who was also not covering anyone because there was no one in his zone. You STAY IN YOUR ZONE unless the play gets behind you.
The only thing Adams could have done better was slide deeper middle of his zone when there was no one there, but leaving his zone to drop back into Jones' zone would have been a mistake within the confines of the Cover-3 defense.

Also Adams was both highly praised and graded for his coverage yesterday. I've read a dozen articles stating this. Being that you still insist he is horrible in coverage, which is a bit of a misconception, I'll just have to assume you are an Adams hater who also disliked the initial trade for him, and the contract (which in reality is actually a fairly reasonable 3 year deal with 2 years of large base salaries that he in all likelihood will never see).

Honestly Gents. This is a miniscule raindrop on a otherwise bright and sunshinny day

Why must we do partisan bickering at each other.

The game is done. We won. Let's move on

wasn't Zone Blair, crashed down Bobby was following the TE at the LOS. The side of the field the play did not go to was zone because "no WR or RB were Wider than the TE and only one TE was on that side of the field. Also Bob Condotta Asked Pete that question after the game go look or watch the interview on youtube if you did not watch it live like i did he states "miss communication" then something else was said about this is why he waited on bringing Jones in. He actually never said it was Jones. He said he didn't bring Jones in earlier to avoid these type mistakes and how everyone was calling for him to play and then he again states this is why he waited not that jones made the mistake. He was saying he waited to bring Jones in so "those plays" wouldn't happen. Condotta just throwing gas on the fire is all just like when they were screaming how Russ wanted a trade and the hawks were looking to trade him.

And Diggs said Miss communication and it wouldn't have happened if he was in there. Blair was playing FS. the only one that looked to miss communicate was Adams and Blair if it was a zone then Adams needed to drop 10 yards deeper and Jones needed to stay outside, Bobby and Brooks both were not in position to play zone so those guys were both out of position and Blair fired inside and if he was in a zone he stays high, they were not in a 4-3 lineup and only had a single safety high. So if Adams was right then Bobby Brooks Jones and Blair were all wrong.

We've already gone over all of this. Everyone, including PC has stated it was Jones.
You claim both Condatto and Carroll said otherwise, yet here is Condatto's direct tweet on it:

No need to discuss it further as we've gone back and forth enough on the subject.

I will close with if Carroll (he did say it despite your instance otherwise), Babineaux, Condatto, Henderson, Adams, Jones, etc. etc. etc. would have said that it was Adams' fault, I would look into why I was wrong instead of continuing to insist I was right in the face of such expert input.

Ok. Bring on the Rams!

So, your theory is that everyone but Jones was running the defense wrong?

Now, the press conference:

Reporter - What did you think of Sydney in the corner? (hard to hear)

Pete - Um, we made on huge error, obviously. It was just a simple thing, it was a really bad mistake, that gives them a huge touchdown play. But, other than that, I thought they played pretty good, and they were, we were around the ball a lot today. I haven't seen the film, but I thought they hung in there pretty well.

Reporter - Why did you decide to go with Sydney in this game?

Pete - Um, I just thought it was time, you know, I think you asked four straight weeks, or three straight weeks, and so I thought "Well, you know, Ok." Um, but it does take us time to gain, to gain access to the guy. You gotta, you gotta know he knows what's going on, you know, across the board. I mean, look what happened, we made a huge error today, too. You know, and uh, so we try to avoid that by buying time, so...but we really, we grabbed him so he would play and we wanna see what he would do and so we took a shot at it.(DJ reference). It's a work in progress, and it takes time to get this stuff right, and hopefully you know it's not too late.

I know you're saying he didn't come right out and say it was Syndey's fault, but he only brought the error up when asked questions about Jones' performance.

Pete refuses to blame anyone I told you Condotta was full of shit, lol.

Go to the 14 minute mark and a guy breaks it down and Pete refuses to answer it. I am sorry but had Jones made the mistake, they would have said so. lol They are protecting a fragile ego of Jamal Adams. How Pete breaks it down I am right and so is everyone else not joking.

Condotta was "stirring the pot".

Maybe Condatto got it when talking to him somewhere other than the presser.
I don't know. Neither do you.
The quote said PC said it. Condatto has always been reliable. I'll go with that over your speculation.

So then you believe Wilson wanted to be traded and the Seahawks wanted to trade him? hey thats on you and you can believe what ever you want.

Condotta was full of shit lol, Pete has REFUSED to answer the question for reasons. If it was on Adams then Adams sure wasn't playing "team ball" by pointing to Jones as SOON as the ball was thrown and not chasing. It was a Ugly look by Adams and if he was at fault it was a VERY VERY ugly look. So the best thing to do is don't tell no one. There is no upside to not telling anyone if it was on Jones, as now you just fill everyone with speculation.

Also Deebo acted like he was going to block Adams, this made Adams think something was coming his way and forced him to call a switch when in fact he was duped. It's like the lineman faking to block on a screen pass to the RB lol. Watch the play again and watch Deebo fake that he is blocking.

That is 100% fine, just as long as you understand that's your "opinion" and mine is different but it doesn't make mine wrong.

It's an interesting play. People can look at the play and come to completely different conclusions.

1) Deebo's fake block. Screamin' says it fooled Adams. I see Adams not react to the block at all, as he is looking in the backfield, and Samuel is already in his route before Adams moves into his zone when it's evident that it was a play fake.

2) Wagner's response after the play fake. Screamin' sees him manning up with Kittle. I see Wagner retreating to his zone and then backpedaling until the throw.

3) Jones manning up Aiyuk. Screamin' sees cover 3 match, mistake is Adams'. I see cover 3 base, mistake is Jones'.

4) Carrol's press conference. Screamin' hears Pete avoid laying blame on Jones, protecting Adams' ego. I hear Pete only mention the mistake when he's asked about Jones, going so far as to insinuate that mistakes like this were the reason they didn't play him immediately and made him wait a few weeks.

In the end, it appears that this play is interpreted by POV and I'm just hoping we don't see it again.

I know this has been beaten to death, but the SI Seattle beat writers are chiming in with a GREAT article breaking every aspect down in detail. A MUST READ for any Seahawk's fan regardless of where you stand on the subject

Takeaways:
*“Sidney had a challenging day, you know he had a challenging day,” head coach Pete Carroll told 710 ESPN Seattle on his weekly visit with host Mike Salk. “He had a couple of plays that got away from him, but all in all he did a nice job, played the scheme well with the exception of the one big touchdown. It’s just first-time-out stuff."
So Pete DID state it, just not at the post game presser.

*The article breaks down in very explicit detail exactly what happened. It discusses the Cover-3 buzz vs zebra schemes and explains how the handoff was supposed to occur. Jones was supposed to execute the zebra 1/3 midpoint technique but instead went with the buzz technique. (just read the article).

*Adams assignment was to stay in the zone but for a reason we haven't touched on: to contain Lance who, as we saw, is a big threat to scramble. If Adams leaves the zone then Lance has an enitire side wide open to run.

There are literally dozens of other articles on it stating it was Jones but the linked one goes into the best detail.

Lastly, Adams allowed 1 catch in 6 targets last week and had a couple of nice break ups. I know some people on here are Adams haters but at least give him credit for his play last week. Whether you like him or not he played very well in coverage.

yeah now I am a Adams hater lmao. Fieldgoals has a nice piece on it, Adams at fault. Hugh Millen says it was Adams and broke it down, then you got MJD stating on national TV it was Adams. You then got a handful of other articles all blaming Adams so it's like you said everyone has a different PoV and the ONLY one that is right and knows it's right is Pete Carroll and the players. Just because i point out something doesn't instantly make me a hater my god haha.

Is Adams over paid? yes in my opinion he is way over paid, the funny thing about that is i told you guys it was going to take 17.5 million to sign him and most of you said no way in hell. Did the Hawks give up to much capital for Adams? for this defense yes way to much. Adams is a unique athlete and I liked the pick up, I didn't like how much we gave up or paid. Our biggest weakness is in pass defense, Adams is only average in that area and a safety getting sacks ( who isn't getting sacks ) playing at the LoS doesn't help our pass defense.
