Supposedly, the Panthers are still interested in giving him an extension. As a Panthers fan, I don't buy that; even if they are, news like this doesn't help the process.

He really hasn't been playing well lately either, so maybe it's becoming a distraction.

I think Tallon should just trade him. He's getting older now and I just don't see him as a long term solution. Might as well get something back for him at this point.

Markstrom will probably be the starter next year as well so that's probably even more reason to trade Vokoun now.

In what will probably be the biggest game the Panthers have this year (as they've kinda sneaked back into the playoff race with their recent tease), it will be Scott Clemmensen, not Tomas Vokoun, in net making his 3rd consecutive start against Atlanta...

I'm actually a little surprised by what I've been reading. It seems like a typical mid season hiccup between a goalie and a coach. I think this is the type of thing that tends to get blown out of proportion in the media, and probably isn't as big of a deal as it really seems. At least this is happening in Florida, instead of Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Philly, Detroit, etc.. it would be a circus in some towns.

Vokoun is still a damn good goalie, and given the propensity of goalies to continue strong play or even improve in their later years, I could see him having some good value on the UFA market this summer. That said, I don't see much for him at the trade deadline, it seems goalies are always a little tougher to move via trade.

Put him on waivers, send him to Rochester, void his contract when he refuses to report, and he signs for league minimum with the Flyers.
