both sites are showing updated depth charts today. Only big surprises are
1) Kris Harley isn't even in the 3-deep... I knew Wiles wasn't happy with him, but I didn't know it went that far
2) Kendall Fuller tied with RVD for 1st string whip. Makes some sense, but I expected to see him listed as a corner, or maybe as the 2nd string whip.
3) Branthover not in the 3-deep for FG/PAT. Figured he would have the edge over the freshmen.

Caleb moved to TB and I believe Meyer tweaked something. Still, it would seem to indicate that they want a better look at Parker over Smiling, Prince, Jones, Byrn, Newsome, and Westbrook.

Updated depth chart was posted today. Some interesting moves. Most notably Stanford over Coles at Split End. hokiesports.com :: Football :: Depth Chart

I wouldn't read too much into that. Probably halfway motivational/halfway over other concerns.

It sounds to me like Coles is still not 100%?? If that is the case, wouldn't mind seeing take it easy this week. Despite his poor performance last week, he is still a hell of a receiver and our best one when he is on his game. Would like to see him 100% for ACC play and finish his career out at VT strong.

We are going to have a huge senior class in 2016....

Assuming they all stay at VT until they are seniors  ... wouldn't surprise if we didn't have at least a couple early entries in that bunch. It is very possible someone could redshirt somewhere along way with injury or something like that..hope I am wrong there but we have seen it before.

Excited to be getting some of these young guys (Mangus, Newsome, Parker) some serious reps at WR.

I am also very intrigued by Cline (I forgot about him, had to look him back up). Florida kid, very athletic basketball crossover (recruited to play basketball by some schools). Good feet and hands from what I understand and...the kid has only been playing football for a couple years (yet still earned some FCS offers and a walk-on opportunity from the U).

This doesn't look good for the other TEs not named Malleck.

Oh, I agree that we'll likely lose some along the way to early entry, transfer, injury, etc. Still, we've got 27 r-Fr. plus 10 true Fr. that are expected to play this year (9 already have, plus Cline). Granted, 11 of those are not on scholarship, which brings the total down to 26. But a few of those will earn scholarships along the way (Rogers, Ludwig, D'Antuono, ...). Not worried, just saying. It should be a bigger senior class than we've had here lately.

Wow. Thanks for crunching those numbers grad. I didn't really think about it, but if this kids can continue to perform the way they did in game 1 (McLaughlin, Edmunds, Fuller, Facyson, among others) the future is very very bright.

I know this is way, way too early...

but if some of the guys we have and are still actively recruiting work out, VT could have a sick team 2 or 3 years down the road. There is a very high ceiling for alot of the kids we have pulled in the last 2-3 years (Fisher, Jefferson, Teller..just to name a few).

If guys like Fuller and Edmunds live up to expectations they will be gone before then.
