Funny how you brought him up. Living here in the Buffalo area, people around here want him out. They have put Leino on every line and from what I have been hearing, he is whining about where he plays and who he plays with. The Sabres are kicking themselves good with this bad contract.

I don't understand why he has played center this year, the guy is a winger, and a puck possession guy, he had great chemistry with Briere and Hartnel, I knew the move for him would hurt him. If he was still in philly he would be playing better. With Jagr playing great and making 3 mill and Read and others..... Flyers have moved on. Leino just needs to find 1 spot and he will be fine at wing.

i disagree. he is overpaid by about 2 million. you could see it in his play last year this guy was not worth what he wanted. his moves became predictable and he got knocked off the puck way to easy. even if they move him to wing without true talent around him he won't ever produce the numbers he had in his best season here, which arent even that good.

Agree. Once Boston figured him out, he was done!

thank god we didn't give him the money he wanted. gotta think if he was still playing with briere that he'd be putting up better numbers than in buffalo, but regardless, wasn't worth the money. much happier filling his spot with new guys like read and jagr on the RW!

Like I said on the main board, I lov3d Ville when he was here. The fact is simply he was a product of our system and the players around him. He was great controlling the puck and could dig it out along the boards.

That said, a team cannot rely on this type of player to carry them. In no way whatsoever do you give him 4.5 mil. I'm glad for Ville. He played his ass off and believed he was worth more than we were offering him. So did the Sabres....Keyword: "did"

For that kind of money? Yeah...I'm glad he's gone.

If he got signed, we probably wouldn't be seeing a Read, a Harry Z, a Zac or a Coots right now.
