Ok Pronger is a jerk, but looking at that he got hosed. He was trying to use his stick to get the puck to go behind the net and when that didn't happen he used his hand. It that he was intending to block the goalie's vision on that play he is a master of deception.
Oh and I still don't like Pronger.

The Ref made the call based on the player, not the rule that was set in place after the whole Avery incident.

It did look to me like he threw his right arm out right at the beginning of the video (though he still held his stick) and threw his left out right at the end to me seemingly for no other reason than to distract the goalie. Whether I think it should have been called or not per the rules, I dont know (or when if it should have been), but I see why it was.

As for Kipper taking a whack at him thats a fair point but that often goes uncalled for a lot. Not saying its right, but it does.

I stand corrected. In the other thread I said it sounds as though only Flyer fans thought the call was BS... but as more people see it, the more people disagree with it. I for one still think it was the correct call, and I hope the league continues to call similar plays as unsportsmanlike.

At this rate, the NHL is going to make it a penalty for saying that Hanrahan's wife is a dyke.

Not saying it's right, but I like seeing a little 'Billy Smith' in Kipper...

The ref who made the call on Pronger is the new ref from Sweden...

I'm a Devils fan so I may not be the most unbiased person, but I think it was the right call. The ref should have just blew the whistle sooner...unless of course Pronger had to be facing the goalie the way the rule written, then its the wrong call.

Wrong call, technically he wasn't doing anything against the rules... but much like the Avery incident, expect the rule to be amended in the near future. Players shouldn't be allowed to wave their arms around in front of goalies no matter which way they are facing.

Tough break for Philly to get screwed out of one, but at least it's happening in November instead of May.

That's just brutal. There's no way Pronger intended to pull an Avery there. He's looking at the puck the whole time. Not once does he turn and delibrately impede Kiprusoff's vision.

I'm telling you. The officiating in the NHL is getting worse. There used to be some kind of consistency. Now there is none what so ever.
