^Counteracted by the numbers of relievers who are seen over and over in the same playoff series...The numbers drop with each appearance. Call me crazy, but I'd rather trust the starter another way through. But, then again, so many starters fall apart after the 5th inning regardless so it's hard to trust anyone.

A it’s a false narrative because you add shitty pitchers into the equation who would have no shot at 300 wins.
B. American Baseball nerds have implemented the arbitrary 100 pitch pitch count so it’s trained pitchers to mentally think they are done at 100 not physically. Some starts guys can easily go 120, just as some starts guys should only go 60-80 pitches but because the 100 number they are kept in. I’m not saying do what a guy like Curt Schilling wants where he wants every pitcher to throw 120 every game cause arm fatigue is just as much as issue as the UCL.
C. Nerds are risk adverse. Which makes sense since pitchers are making so much money. You don’t want to be paying a dude $20-30 million to rehab for a season instead of pitching. But there is zero evidence that has to do with pitch count as opposed to overall usage. There is no magic number for when your UCL will tear. And no matter how many graphs and shit the nerds show you, it just isn’t a true and you know it isn’t true by actions. If it were actually true in between starts, starters wouldn’t throw bullpens or train. It would be just like the Japanese where it’s just stretching and massages.
