Yeah, but the fourth time is going to be rare because in most cases, the pitcher's pitch count is going to be 90+. How deep in the lineup does he go the 4th run and is he righty vs lefty matchups favoring him if the fourth run is a partial one?

Side note: I think Marichal once pitched a 9 inning shutout in which he gave up 13 hits.

I absolutely hate the 3-outcome approach at the plate, but I understand why it is popular. You take a guy like Arraez. He hits for a high average every year. But then you look at his run production and it is unimpressive. Maybe his run production isn't entirely his fault, but nevertheless, the hits aren't really paying off. Over the last four years Arraez has averaged 225 times on base via hit or walk, but has only averaged 77 runs scored.

Arraez has a high BA, but his OBP is pedestrian af. He has more power than you would expect, but pitchers aren’t afraid to nibble with him because they feel confidant he won’t “make them pay” for a mistake, and he doesn’t have the greatest eye and will expand his zone if needed.

Arraez is an absolute joy to watch. Team execs reading this should know that your fanbase will LOVE him, and he is worth any level of prospect package to acquire him. He is Marco Scutaro++, and Scutaro almost single-handedly gave the Giants a championship in ‘12.

There’s always a place in a lineup for a contact hitter that never strikes out IMO.

If the tying run is at third with one out, I’d rather face Ohtani than Arraez in that spot. Ohtani might strikeout. That’s a near guaranteed run with Arraez

Baseball was a more beautiful sport when they just lined up and played. No ridiculous shifts,.no absurd spin rate. No 47 pitchers in a game. I will grant you that.

They could fix some of it by bringing the roster back down to 25 (and a lot of it by taking the roster down to 23).

When we were kids, the roster was unofficially 24. I have no idea how/why the teams did that (the roster was officially 25, but all teams went with 24 — seems like collusion to me now, but I am sure there is something I am missing).
